Chapter 514 Indecent Rumors
Women loved hearing sweet talk.
Samantha's face lit up with a grin. It was do or die time.
Once she hooked up with Adrian, the first person she'd deal with was Natalie!
The way Natalie had humiliated her back then, she'd pay it back double!
Samantha checked herself out in the mirror, feeling pretty pleased. "Where's Lydia? Why isn't she here yet?"
Tessa shrugged, "No clue. I texted her, but she hasn't hit me back."
Samantha snorted. She wasn't dumb; she knew Lydia was just using her. If she scored with Adrian, Lydia would be all over her. If she failed, Lydia would ghost her for sure.
She didn't want to scrape by on live streaming and a few tips.
If she could snag Adrian, she could have anything she wanted.
The event inside had already kicked off. The host was a big shot in the industry. He even turned down another gig that night just to be here, showing how big a deal Dynamic Entertainment Media was.
They started with some minor awards like Most Anticipated, Best Commercial Work, and Best Adaptation.
These were just warm-ups; everyone who showed up usually got one.
The big ones were Best Actress and Best Actor.
Rumor had it that Dynamic Entertainment Media would give the Best Actress award to Wendy this time.
But there were other strong contenders. Even though Wendy was a big name, the ratings and buzz for her drama last year were just so-so.
"I heard Best Actress isn't going to Wendy this time."
Natalie, sitting at a table in the back, overheard two newbies gossiping.
She leaned in to listen.
"Not her? Then who?"
"My agent says it might be Penelope Baker."
"Penelope?" The girl's voice shot up in surprise.
The other one quickly hushed her, "Keep it down."
"How could it be Penelope? Sure, she's famous, but she's not that experienced. I heard Wendy and Adrian go way back."
"What?" The girl’s eyes widened. "Seriously?"
Another actress nearby chimed in, "First time I'm hearing Wendy and Mr. Howard grew up together."
Natalie was also taken aback.
Wendy was 29, young, and had a killer resume. She was a talented actress with great skills and a strong presence, standing tall at 5'8" with legs for days.
Four years ago, she snagged an international Best Actress award.
Two years ago, she won Best Actress at a big domestic film fest.
She was still killing it.
"Yeah, my family’s been in business with Wendy’s for years. The Lewis and Howard families go way back. Adrian and Wendy have known each other since they were kids."
Natalie wasn’t usually into gossip, but this was news to her. She pulled out her phone and texted Heather.
Heather replied right away: [That explains a lot.]
Natalie: [What?] She was confused.
Heather: [Two years ago, when the Golden Deer Award, one of the top three domestic film awards, announced Best Actress, Wendy won. There were rumors she had a connection with Adrian and got the award because of that. Later, a drama she starred in blew up, cementing her status. Plus, her acting is solid, so the rumors died down.]
