Chapter 1223 There's Nothing to Talk About Between Us
Quincy reached out, "Yes, Natalie is amazing. Can you give me that piece of wood now?"
Joe felt a pang of regret. He had worked so hard to get that high-quality wood material, and now he had to give it to Quincy.
But a bet is a bet. He said, "Alright, come to my study at noon to get it."
Ruben stroked his beard, "Watching these three games has made me want to play too. Natalie, your chess skills are indeed impressive. Joe didn't lose unfairly."
Natalie, seeing Ruben happy, smiled as well.
"Would you be willing to play a game with me?"
"Sure." Ruben, who had been itching to play while watching, agreed.
Joe stood up, and Ruben took his place on the cushion.
A new game began.
After playing two games with Ruben, if Natalie didn't have a flight to catch in the afternoon, Ruben wouldn't have let her go.
Lunch was ready.
Jamie arrived late.
Ruben glanced at Jamie, "How's Andrea?"
Jamie replied, "She got vaccinated, it's not a big deal. She's resting in her room."
Ruben sighed, "Andrea was in a coma for seven years. Her waking up is already a miracle from God. You're her brother, and she grew up with you. You need to take good care of her. If she has any concerns, you should help her. A lot has changed in seven years, and it's natural for her to feel uneasy."
Jamie nodded, "I understand."
Ruben nodded back.
Not far away, Rachel bit her lip, watching Ruben and Jamie talk. She looked at Jamie's profile, her eyes a bit blurry.
After Ruben finished talking to Jamie, she walked over, "Jamie."
Jamie stood straight, his black sportswear clean and neat. He turned to look at Rachel, his brows slightly furrowed.
Rachel's lipstick was smudged from biting her lips. She mustered up the courage, "Jamie, can we talk?"
"Rachel, there's nothing to talk about between us."
"Isn't there?" Rachel's eyes reddened, "Do you really think there's nothing?"
Ruben turned to look at Jamie and Rachel, standing there. He frowned slightly, "Rachel, what's wrong?"
Rachel's voice was muffled, as if suppressing her sobs, "Nothing, I just want to say a few words to Jamie."
Standing there in a stalemate was pointless. Jamie nodded, "Let's talk on the balcony."
The two of them walked to the small balcony one after the other.
Outside was the garden.
The balcony window was open, and a branch of flowers extended inside.
The air was filled with a mix of sunlight and floral fragrance.
Jamie stood with his hands in his pockets, silent.
Hearing the door close behind him, he glanced at Rachel standing behind him, "Rachel, I've run out of patience with you. Don't think you can use any tricks or elders to pressure me. I don't like you, and I never will."
Rachel bit her lip hard, "Do you have to be so cold and hurtful with your words?"
Jamie stated calmly and coldly, "If you're hoping to hear the word 'like' from me, you won't. If you're not satisfied with the truth, then there's nothing more to say between us."
"Last night, Andrea deliberately let Lucky bite her. If you don't believe me, you can check the surveillance. Andrea is a hypocritical person. Do you still want to protect her and like her? I don't understand what you see in her that's worth your protection."
As she spoke, Rachel took out her phone, found the surveillance footage she had retrieved that morning, and held it up in front of Jamie.
