Chapter 206 Did You Want Me to Kiss Her?
Maria said, "Do you think Alice dislikes Natalie so much because Natalie is her father's illegitimate child?"
Before Maria finish her sentence, a male voice interrupted, "Stop it. This is the Howard family's place. Keep your gossip to yourselves."
"Samuel, what are you afraid of? They can't hear us," Elizabeth pouted and muttered softly, then spoke to Maria, "Is it true?"
Samuel Russell shook his head slightly and said to Elizabeth, "You love gossip so much? When should I hold a press conference to talk about the scandals of the famous Elizabeth?"
Elizabeth said, "Samuel, stop teasing me."
Samuel took a sip from his glass, adjusted his glasses, and his gaze fell on Daniel and Natalie. They were the center of his sister Elizabeth's gossip just now. He thought, 'Natalie does seem somewhat similar to the young lady of the Cullen family.'
However, he couldn't quite pinpoint how they were alike. It seemed like they weren't alike at all, yet there was some resemblance.
It was as if their faces were separated by a layer of hazy white mist.
Seeing Samuel's gaze on Natalie, Elizabeth grinned and leaned in. "Samuel, who do you think is prettier, Natalie or Alice?"
"Well..." Samuel instinctively looked at Natalie.
Natalie's demeanor was delicate and not overly overbearing. She wore light makeup, with a subtle touch of color on her lips. Her face was exquisitely featured. It seemed there was a gentle warmth under the faint firelight. Her long hair casually fell behind her ears, with a few strands occasionally tousled by the sea breeze, adding a serene and gentle beauty.
After speaking, Samuel seemed to realize something and looked at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was holding back her laughter.
Samuel wouldn't let them gossip, so she decided to tease him instead.
8 PM at the beach.
The sea breeze blew, carrying a faint salty smell.
A lively beach party was in full swing, with some people gathered to play cards in small groups. They all seemed to have their own cliques.
Adrian opened his eyes. He could hold his liquor well, but after downing two bottles, the alcohol hadn't worn off yet.
He could hear the lively chatter around him.
Adrian wasn't asleep.
"Adrian, how are you?" Alice walked over, holding a cup of warm water.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Adrian sat up.
Alice said, "Adrian, it was just a little game. You didn't have to take it seriously. Drinking that much isn't good for your stomach."
"Did you want me to kiss her?" Adrian took the warm water, drank a sip, and looked at Alice with a tender gaze.
Alice said, "Of course not." She wrapped her arm around Adrian's and rested her head on his shoulder. "Adrian, how could I accept my fiancé kissing another woman, even in a game?"
Adrian asked, "Alice, how long have you known Diana?"
Alice was puzzled. "Diana? We met in high school. Why do you ask, Adrian?"
Adrian uttered, "Diana is very scheming, Alice. You should keep your distance from her, especially now that you're pregnant."
Alice felt a bit guilty. She carefully observed Adrian's expression, thinking, 'Did he overhear my chatting with Diana and the others just now? Adrian probably dislikes people gossiping behind others' backs the most.'
Alice quickly clung to Adrian's arm and said, "Diana and I are just casual friends. Our families have business dealings, that's all. We don't interact much."
"I know." Adrian looked at Alice's sweet and obedient smile, his gaze softening as it fell on her slightly protruding belly.
He didn't want to think badly of Alice. She had saved him and was now pregnant. They were already engaged, even though he had no particular expectations for this marriage.
Most of the time, he found his interactions with Alice quite dull.
