Chapter 1372 Elmer's Change
Rachel stepped out of her room and glanced at the study across the hall.
Elmer was arguing with the butler.
"I'm not going!"
"Mr. Elmer, it's Miss Kamille's birthday party. We can't just skip it."
"What would a blind man do at a party? Wait for people to mock me, pity me, laugh at me?" Elmer shouted.
Elmer had always been reluctant to attend these gatherings.
The butler sighed and turned to see Rachel standing at the door. "Miss Howard, the East Side Princess Kamille's birthday party is tonight. The dress and gift are ready. We hope you can represent the South Side for us."
Rachel was a bit surprised.
Kamille?
Could it be the Kamille she knew, the one who was an international socialite?
"Excuse me, did you say East Side Princess Kamille? I remember hearing about a famous international socialite who was always on fashion magazines, the princess of Frins International Island. Is that her?"
The butler replied, "Miss Howard, you might not know, but Frins International Island merged last year. The four districts combined to form Redwood Isle."
Rachel was shocked. It really was someone she knew. If Kamille was hosting a birthday party, then Chloe and the others would be there too. Her friends would be there. This was her chance to escape. Rachel suppressed her excitement. She finally had a way out.
She didn't refuse. "Sure, I'll get ready and go."
The butler saw the smile on her face and assumed Rachel was just excited to get out of the house and see the world. He immediately instructed the maid to prepare the dress and bring it up.
He also reminded her of the etiquette requirements.
Rachel changed into her outfit, a white lace pearl gown from a high-end luxury brand she used to wear. She knocked on the study door but didn't hear a response. She opened the door anyway and saw Elmer's slender figure standing near the balcony. The curtains were drawn, making the room dim.
The curtains were custom-made to completely block out the sunlight.
Elmer turned around, his pupils trembling slightly.
He watched as Rachel, in her elegant white gown, walked towards him. Rachel was beautiful, Elmer had always known that. But seeing her dressed up like this was a first. He couldn't take his eyes off her.
"Are you really not coming with me tonight?" Rachel walked over and took his arm. "Come on, let's go together."
She looked up at Elmer's refined face and smooth jawline. Even though Rachel had been here for a month and was now ready to leave, she felt a bit reluctant to part with this blind young man. She pitied him and thought he was... quite nice.
Moreover, this blind young man felt like a friend to her. Rachel didn't have any other feelings for him, just thought it was nice to have a friend like him.
They probably wouldn't see each other again after this.
Elmer didn't want to go out. Even though Kamille's birthday party was at night, he didn't want to be the subject of gossip. But looking at Rachel's beautifully made-up face and hearing her gentle plea, he nodded.
Rachel smiled. "Hurry up, go change."
Elmer and Rachel walked downstairs together.
The butler was a bit surprised. He hadn't expected Rachel to persuade Elmer so easily.
Isaac was also taken aback. He hadn't anticipated that the woman they had brought back by chance would change his son.
