Chapter 277 Alice Gave Herself Away
The butler locked Lucky in a storage room. "Lucky, calm down. That's Ms. Cullen. She might be your future mistress."
Lucky saw the butler and stayed quiet, lying on the ground.
The butler chuckled, "What's up with you today? You don't usually act like this."
Lucky's tail wagged lazily.
The butler brought over some dog food and a can, taking care of Lucky. This was a dog Adrian had raised for three years, usually staying with him at Bayview Villa.
Adrian came out from the balcony and heard Alice talking.
With his hands in his pockets, Adrian walked over.
His eyes landed on the diamond pendant around Alice's neck.
He frowned slightly, his eyes darkening.
Something seemed to cross his mind, but his face stayed indifferent.
Alice didn't notice and kept touching the diamond pendant, trying to get attention. But it didn't work. She felt frustrated, thinking the Howard family didn't care about the pendant.
During dinner, Alice saw her favorite steamed crab. Just as she was about to eat, Melissa interrupted, "Alice, you're pregnant. You can't eat that."
"Auntie, I almost forgot. Thanks for the reminder."
At 9 PM, Claire told Adrian, "You should take Alice back. It's getting late."
Alice rarely got to spend time with Adrian. Every time she tried to talk, Lucky, sitting next to Adrian, would bark and interrupt her.
Alice gritted her teeth.
"Adrian, it's so cute. What's its name?" she asked, reaching out to pet Lucky.
Lucky barked once. Adrian glanced at it, and it quieted down. Alice petted Lucky's head, "So cute, Adrian. I didn't know you liked dogs so much."
"I've had it for a few years. It's a good dog," he said, patting Lucky's ear.
Hoping to be Adrian's wife, Alice said, "Adrian, when we get married, let's get a cat too. I also like Golden Retrievers; they're great."
"Alice." Adrian turned to look at her, his gaze on the diamond pendant. "You look very beautiful today."
Alice's face lit up. "I didn't really dress up much."
Under the streetlights, Adrian's handsome face was highlighted. Alice's heart pounded as she looked at him. "I specifically wore this diamond pendant today. Does it look good?"
The car stopped at a red light.
Adrian's lips curved slightly, but his eyes were stormy. "It looks good."
He paused for a few seconds, his voice deep. "This diamond pendant is very unique."
Alice's heart leaped with joy.
She knew it. Seeing the pendant, he wouldn't stay indifferent. After all, he had given it to her. If Natalie hadn't hidden it, her relationship with Adrian might have progressed further by now.
"The things you gave me, I've always kept them safe. This diamond pendant, I've always kept it at home, afraid of losing it."
Adrian's eyes showed a complex expression, and his smile grew colder. "Really?"
Alice quickly said, "Of course."
Adrian's gaze fell again on the diamond pendant, his eyes cold. "As long as you like it."
