Chapter 919 Parting on Bad Terms
Even though Avery knew trying to explain was pointless, she just couldn't admit Alice was hanging out with other guys.
Curtis, on the other hand, looked like he was about to lose it. He felt too embarrassed to stick around. He glanced at Avery and said, "Alright, let's get out of here."
Adrian cut in, "Hold on, don't rush off. Since Mrs. Cullen doesn't believe it, why not check out another piece of evidence to see who this guy is?"
Curtis just wanted to bolt, avoiding any more humiliation.
Adrian continued, "Alice going out with other men while we were together is a betrayal. She's been lying about the kid's parentage, claiming it's from the Howard family. Alice brought this on herself. I now annul my engagement with Alice. From now on, she has nothing to do with me or the Howard family."
This outcome was expected.
Curtis was speechless and turned to leave immediately, with Avery angrily trailing behind.
They scurried out of the Howard Mansion.
On their way out, Avery said, "What about Alice? The Hall family won't back down. What if Alice really ends up in jail?"
Avery was starting to panic.
Now the Howard family wouldn't help them anymore, and the engagement was off.
Curtis, feeling ashamed, suddenly shook off Avery, "And you still have the nerve to talk? Causing such a scandal and still trying to defend her? Alice actually messed around with another man, and disgraced me."
Who knew if this video would get out? If it did, Curtis would be a laughingstock.
Seeing Avery still doting on Alice, Curtis felt hopeless, "Avery, my biggest mistake was marrying you and giving up on Rosalie."
Avery was stunned. Her eyes reddened, and her lips trembled, "What do you mean by that?"
Curtis, still fuming, turned to Avery, "You know exactly what I mean."
Avery laughed bitterly, "So you still think about Rosalie! Curtis! Now you're showing your true colors. You've never forgotten Rosalie! You still love her. Now you regret marrying me, don't you? You think if you had married Rosalie, everything would be perfect, and you'd have a happy family! Don't forget that it was my family that helped you with your business when you're down."
Curtis's business had grown bigger and more stable, and he was now a successful businessman in public. Men were very sensitive about their pride.
Curtis hated it when Avery brought up how his early success was due to her family's help. Mentioning this made his face turn ugly. "Shut up!"
But Avery wouldn't shut up.
The two of them started arguing right in front of the Howard Mansion. Avery's words were sharp and relentless as she brought up Rosalie.
Even the security guards at the Howard Mansion's gate were looking over.
