Chapter 956 A Hot Topic
After the shoot, Natalie headed back to the lounge to chill before the evening's red carpet event. She'd been on the go since lunch and finally had a moment to kick back. Plopping down on the couch, she checked out the electronic script on her phone.
Then Heather came in to go over the event details.
The red carpet was set to kick off at 7 PM.
A makeup artist came by to freshen up Natalie's look, worried her makeup might have faded. But to everyone's surprise, Natalie's skin was flawless, and her morning makeup was still on point. "Ms. Teeger, your skin is amazing."
Natalie grinned, "Good skin comes with being young."
"Natalie, you're too modest," the makeup artist said, giving her a quick touch-up before Natalie lined up backstage.
Natalie didn't fuss about her spot on the red carpet or her seat inside.
In showbiz, some things weren't just about money or fighting for them; they were about talent and the work you put in.
Real work would earn you your place.
Even without the company's backing, Natalie was seated among the main guests.
This time, the red carpet order was a mess. Some folks weren't happy with their spots and kept switching, and a few big shots thought Wendy couldn't outshine them, so they bailed, claiming they were sick.
As Natalie ambled down the red carpet, a lot of people called her name.
There was a host on the red carpet ready to ask a few off-the-cuff questions.
When they saw Natalie, it was like the red carpet event got a jolt of energy. The host jumped in, "Ms. Teeger, it looks like you're rocking a U&M dress tonight. You're the brand's spokesperson. Congrats. You look stunning."
Natalie took the mic and politely said, "Thank you."
Having been in the entertainment biz for years, the host didn't worry about offending actors or actresses, just about their own fame.
After all, the red carpet couldn't be too boring. A fashion gala without any buzz was the worst.
"Natalie, do you keep up with entertainment news in your downtime? Do you ever chat about industry gossip?"
As soon as the question was out, cameras turned towards Natalie.
Heather, in the crowd, quickly signaled her to be wary of the host, who would do anything for a headline.
Natalie carefully replied, "When I have time, I like to read books and look at scripts to unwind."
The host asked, "Reading scripts? Are you gearing up for a new project soon?"
"I might take a break for a bit," Natalie said.
"It seems Natalie isn't into entertainment news, but I heard a rumor that many netizens might be curious about." The host's eyes sparkled, "I heard that U&M's first choice for their brand spokesperson was your senior colleague Wendy. Now that you're the spokesperson, is that true?"
Heather's face fell.
But with the media sensing a scoop, reporters swarmed in.
Natalie signaled Heather to stay calm. Her smile was warm and clear. "Is everyone really that curious? As the current spokesperson for U&M, if Ms. Henderson agrees, I can talk about it."
The rumor alert went off. But Natalie also left a bit of suspense, passing the topic directly to Rebecca.
