Chapter 423 Coincidence
Rachel glanced over at Natalie, who was hanging onto Adrian's arm, and hesitantly called out, "Natalie?"
Natalie flashed a small smile, still clutching Adrian's arm. She stood there all poised and stuff. With a twinkle in her eye, she said, "Ms. Howard, what a coincidence."
Rachel didn't really have any beef with Natalie, but something felt off. Wasn't Natalie supposed to be a maid for the Cullen family? What was she doing having dinner with Adrian? Rachel couldn't put her finger on it, but it just felt weird.
Rachel threw out an invite. "Adrian, it's my friend's birthday today. Didn't expect to see you here. Wanna join us?"
Tyler chimed in, "Yeah, Adrian, let's eat together."
Adrian turned slightly and glanced at Natalie, seeking her opinion.
That's when everyone in the small room zeroed in on Natalie.
They were all a bit taken aback and had their own thoughts—especially since Alice was still in the hospital, and here was Adrian having dinner with a chick who looked a lot like Alice. It definitely got the gossip mill going.
But no one had the guts to ask.
Natalie said, "Sure."
Rachel was currently taking classes in the Art Department at Vachilit University.
Tyler was also her college buddy, and he came from a loaded family.
Most of the folks who showed up for Tyler's birthday bash today were also from well-off backgrounds.
To be real, in the Art Department at Vachilit University, you couldn't study art without some serious cash; it was a pricey major.
The waiter came over and pushed four tables together.
This place was one of the hot spots near Vachilit lately. The decor was pretty sweet, especially the small room upstairs. The four rectangular tables combined left some space, almost filling up the room.
Tyler said, "It's my birthday today, so order whatever you want. I've already got a few of the famous dishes here. See if there's anything else you want."
The waiter stood by, grinning as he introduced the menu.
Natalie grabbed a menu, which already had a bunch of stuff checked off. She glanced at it; most of the main courses were already ordered. "Just a glass of lemonade, please."
Adrian's phone buzzed, and he got up to take the call outside.
Natalie looked at the menu, checked off one more dish, and handed it to the person on her left.
"Natalie, after dinner, we're gonna hit up some karaoke. You and Adrian coming?" a clear male voice suddenly asked.
Natalie looked up at Tyler, who was sitting across from her. She said, "No, I got other plans. Happy birthday, and hope you all have a blast."
Natalie had rushed out today and was still in her costume from the set: a light blue knitted cardigan over a white shirt. She looked fresh and gentle, smiling with those curved eyes. Her voice was soft, her features delicate, and her vibe was chill. Tyler blushed a bit. "What about Adrian?"
"You can ask him when he gets back," Natalie replied, not wanting to make decisions for Adrian.
Rachel bit her utensils. "Natalie, how'd you meet Adrian?"
Natalie lied casually. "Just by chance."
Rachel wasn't buying it. How could it be such a coincidence?
Natalie's phone rang. She glanced at it; it was Rosalie calling.
She got up and walked out with her phone.
As soon as she left, the small room buzzed with chatter.
"Rachel, who is Natalie? She looks a lot like Alice."
"Yeah, why's she with Adrian?"
"How would I know?" Rachel pursed her lips. "Wait for Adrian to come back and ask him."
"Who dares to ask Adrian? One look from him, and I'd be scared to death."
Rachel said, "So you all just asked me."
She propped her chin on her hand, staring at the food in her bowl. She was also curious about how Adrian ended up with Natalie.
By chance? No way.
