Chapter 922 Breaking Off the Engagement
On the other end, Diana pursed her lips, thinking, 'I try to give her some advice, but Alice still has that attitude. Who wants to be a punching bag?'
Curtis heard Alice was back and thought about dropping by to see her. But with his bad mood and the mess Alice caused, he decided to stay at the office and chill for the night.
Just then, his secretary walked in with a cup of coffee.
"Mr. Cullen, what's up?" she asked, moving behind him to give his shoulders a massage. Curtis felt her gentle touch and got even more fed up with Avery's nonsense. Now that the engagement was off, without the Howard family backing them, growing the Cullen Group would be tougher.
Curtis touched the secretary's hand as she leaned into his arms.
In his mind, he saw Rosalie from back in the day. She was beautiful and looked a lot like Avery, just like how Natalie and Alice had similar features but totally different vibes. Rosalie was sweet and well-mannered.
But one time, Curtis had gotten drunk and ended up with Avery. Avery had a video of that night and had said Rosalie's family was average, but hers was loaded. She had promised financial support for Curtis's business, so he had agreed back then.
Now, he realized he had made the wrong choice.
The next morning at 9 AM, the Howard Group held a press conference to announce the end of Adrian and Alice's engagement.
This news made a lot of people online think Adrian had finally come to his senses.
[I never got why Adrian loved Alice. Why would he want someone like her as his fiancée? Now it's good. Adrian is finally single again.]
[I heard Sandra dropped the lawsuit, and Alice probably pulled some strings to get out of the police station. It's so shady, ruining Sandra's face and then getting out because she has connections.]
[It's great that Adrian canceled the engagement with a woman like Alice. Time to celebrate.]
Alice saw the news about the engagement being called off and was stunned.
It took her a while to react before she ran out crying, "Mom, what's going on?"
"How could Adrian break off the engagement with me?" Alice wondered as she tried calling Adrian.
It seemed like Adrian had blocked her; she couldn't get through no matter what.
Avery patted Alice's shoulder. "Alice, without Adrian, you can find another guy. You're so amazing and beautiful, with so many people after you. Why insist on marrying Adrian? You even lost two kids for him."
Alice's mind was stuck on the fact that the Howard family had called off the engagement. She was no longer Adrian's fiancée. She was too anxious to heed Avery's advice. "Mom, you don't get it! If I get dumped, my friends who suck up to me now will probably laugh behind my back. What will people think of me?" Alice thought.
She cared a lot about her reputation and was used to a luxurious life. Even though Curtis and Avery gave her a good allowance every month, it was nothing compared to what she got as the future hostess of the Howard family.
