Chapter 057 The Imperial Nightclub

Avery's voice echoed in her ear, her words laced with a cold, biting edge. "I hear you've been playing truant, even requiring Curtis's assistance to scrape through graduation. Perhaps you should consider taking a hiatus from your studies and seek employment. I could arrange a position for you at the Fortune Hotel, perhaps in the sanitation department? After all, it is a seven-star establishment..."

Her voice trailed off, leaving an uncomfortable silence that was soon filled by Alice's voice. "Mom, why offer her such a generous opportunity? Perhaps she would be better suited as a waitress at the Imperial Nightclub..."

The Imperial Nightclub was a notorious adult entertainment venue in Vachilit. As dusk descended, the nightclub transformed into the city's most vibrant hotspot.

Natalie was acutely aware of the implications behind Avery and Alice's suggestions. She responded with a forced smile, "Mrs. Cullen, Miss Cullen, since you've made such thoughtful arrangements, I shall comply."

Alice's voice bristled with discontent. "Why do you insist on maintaining this arrogance? You rely on our family for survival, and your mother's medical expenses are borne by us. Natalie, we haven't left you without options. Your chronic absenteeism has jeopardized your graduation, it's high time you started earning."

Natalie bowed her head, acknowledging the harsh reality. This was her only option, and she was the one who had chosen it. She mulled over her thoughts, "Earning money early isn't a bad idea. Once my mother's health stabilizes, I'll extricate her from the Cullen's clutches."

Gradually, she relaxed her clenched fist and responded, "I understand, I'll start tonight."

Avery's voice held a note of satisfaction as she replied, "Don't worry. As long as you follow my instructions, your mother will be fine." With that, he ended the call.

Shortly after, Natalie received a text message directing her to meet Melody Nicholson at the Imperial Nightclub.

As night fell, Natalie found herself stepping into the infamous Imperial Nightclub.

Inside the office, Melody, a cigarette dangling from her fingers, studied Natalie. Despite her thin frame, Natalie exuded an air of elegance. Her skin was smooth, her beauty natural and unadorned, yet her expression was one of indifference.

"Why do you want to work here?" Melody asked.

"My mother is ill. I need the money," Natalie replied.

Melody, now a seasoned 33-year-old, had started her journey at the Imperial Nightclub as a teenager and had since established a firm foothold. Clad in a black coat, her feet propped up on the desk, she raised an eyebrow and stated, "Eight out of ten people give me that excuse. Regardless, you'll be managing the beverages on the sixth and seventh floors. You'll receive a base salary plus a two percent commission. Your shift will alternate between mornings and afternoons, and you'll have one day off each week."

Natalie was taken aback.

Observing her reaction, Melody chuckled, "What did you think this place was, a brothel? The Imperial Nightclub isn't that kind of establishment. Though, if you're seeking that line of work, I could still assist you."

Natalie lowered her gaze, "No, thank you, Melody."

Melody dismissed her with a wave, "Go to room 202 to collect your uniform."

"Okay," Natalie responded, before making her exit.

Prior to arriving at the Imperial Nightclub, Natalie had steeled herself for the worst, even contemplating the unthinkable. This was a relief.

As she slipped into her uniform with the help of a round-faced girl, Natalie let out a sigh of relief.

The girl frowned at Natalie, "You're too thin. This is the smallest size uniform we have." There was still ample room around the waist. "I'm Denise Coleman. And you?"

"Natalie Teeger."

"Looks like we'll be working together from now on."
