Chapter 228 Encountering Danger (Part 2)
Natalie asked, "What's wrong?"
Suddenly, she heard a noise breaking the silence.
She gasped. Above her, a snake with a red tongue and a black body with red patterns was slithering.
Adrian's look turned serious. "Don't move!"
Natalie froze. Her lips trembled as the snake lunged at her. She shut her eyes tight.
Adrian hooked one arm around her waist and grabbed the snake by its neck with his other hand. But jungle snakes were venomous. Adrian got bitten on the back of his hand.
Not feeling the pain, Natalie opened her eyes to see the wound on Adrian's hand. "Are you okay?"
Adrian glanced at the wound, frowning. "Let's go; we can't stay here." In the jungle, who knew what else might be lurking?
"No way!" Natalie pulled out first aid supplies from her bag. "Your hand needs treatment." She quickly tended to Adrian's wound.
Adrian bent down, looking at the stunned Natalie. "Hurry up!"
Natalie widened her eyes, looking at Adrian's broad back.
She thought, 'Is he going to carry me?'
After a moment of hesitation, Natalie climbed onto Adrian's back.
His steps were steady and quick. Natalie felt an unprecedented sense of security.
From being tense to gently resting her cheek on Adrian's back, she noticed his back trembling slightly.
Natalie was light, but Adrian had to move fast. The bite on his hand was painful. He knew this type of snake was venomous. Rain was coming. If they didn't get out, they'd be trapped.
Thunder rumbled.
Adrian's pace began to slow.
His handsome face was pale, covered in cold sweat.
"Adrian, Adrian," Natalie called his name.
He stopped, his vision blurring. He put Natalie down, gripping her wrist tightly. "Walk in this direction."
"How are you, Adrian?" Natalie panicked, looking at his hand. Realizing the snake was venomous, her eyes widened in shock as Adrian's body began to collapse. She quickly supported him. "Adrian!"
It started to drizzle.
Natalie dragged Adrian and finally found a cave among some rocks.
Inside, spider webs were dense, the ground covered in dust and charred wood, showing signs of previous human presence.
She laid Adrian down and started a fire with dry wood.
Natalie touched Adrian's forehead. His temperature was still normal, but he was unconscious, and his condition wasn't good.
She took out medicine, bandages, and a small knife from the first aid kit.
Natalie used the knife to cut open the wound on Adrian's hand, sucked out the venom, then wrapped his wrist with gauze, carefully applying medicine and bandaging it.
In the dim light, Adrian opened his eyes, his vision blurry. He vaguely saw a figure in front of him.
Suddenly, he spoke, "Andrea."
Natalie's hand paused while packing the first aid kit. Andrea?
It wasn't the first time she had heard Adrian call this name. Who was Andrea?
Natalie looked at Adrian's face, seeing the abnormal flush on his cheeks. She reached out to touch his forehead. Sure enough, he had a fever.
"Andrea." He grabbed her fingers.
