Chapter 276 The Diamond Pendant is Found
Adrian walked into the living room and saw Alice with red, tearful eyes. She took a few steps toward him. "Adrian."
"What's wrong?" he asked.
Alice bit her lip, looking like she wanted to say something but held back. "Nothing, Adrian."
Just then, Rachel walked out, clearly annoyed by Alice's demeanor. She grabbed Adrian's hand and led him to the balcony. "Adrian, where were you today? You're half an hour late."
"Had some things to do."
"Did Alice come to you to complain again?"
Adrian glanced at Rachel. "Did you upset her?"
Rachel pouted. "I just can't stand the way she acts."
"Are you really going to marry her?"
Adrian took off his suit and draped it over his arm. He was adjusting his cuffs when he paused at her words. "That's none of your concern."
"Maybe Andrea will wake up soon," Rachel said anxiously.
At the mention of Andrea's name, Adrian's expression changed.
"Rachel!"
"Adrian."
A long-haired Alaskan Malamute ran in, its fur still damp from a bath. It was Alice's first time seeing the dog, and she thought, 'Where did this dog come from?'
The butler said, "It's Mr. Howard's."
Hearing it was Adrian's, Alice liked it even more. She quickly walked over to pet it, but Lucky suddenly barked loudly, startling her.
The butler quickly intervened, leading Lucky away to avoid scaring Alice.
Alice patted her chest, thinking how fierce the dog was. She no longer felt like playing with it. She looked toward the balcony, but it was too far to hear anything.
Alice didn't know what Rachel was saying to Adrian on the balcony. She felt anxious, afraid that Adrian would be influenced by Rachel's words. Rachel was always against her. She had tried hard to get on Rachel's good side, but Rachel didn't like her at all.
Claire watched Alice, noticing her changing expressions, assuming she had some minor conflicts with Rachel. Claire knew Rachel's personality well. She wanted to comfort Alice. "Alice, come chat with me for a while."
"Aunt Claire." Alice walked over.
She was wearing a white feathered V-neck dress, revealing her slender neck and a diamond pendant. Claire looked at her, her gaze falling on the pendant, and frowned slightly. "Alice, you're pregnant now. Isn't it uncomfortable to wear such a fitted dress?"
Alice didn't expect Claire to ask this. Shouldn't she be asking about the diamond pendant?
"Oh, it's fine. It's still early, not showing much yet."
"Alice, tell me again how you met Adrian."
Claire's question was exactly what Alice wanted to talk about. She immediately smiled. "I was celebrating a friend's birthday at a hotel and happened to meet Adrian. He had just arrived in Vachilit but had been drugged. I saved him, and he gave me the diamond pendant. It's kind of a token between us."
At this point, Alice blushed.
Claire looked at the pendant on Alice's neck and frowned. "Adrian gave this to you?"
"Yes, that night, it was very dark. We didn't see each other's faces clearly, but I remembered him, and he remembered me. He gave me this and said he would come find me. I thought I was dreaming, but when I woke up, I found him right beside me." Alice's voice became shy, her face smiling, a beautiful blush spreading across her cheeks. Anyone who saw her would want to cherish her dearly. But at this moment, Claire stared at the pendant on her neck for a couple of seconds, her expression becoming complicated.
"Alice, you saved him, so you two are fated." But whether he would make her his wife, that was unknown. Claire sighed inwardly.
Where did it go wrong?
The diamond pendant Alice was wearing today was not the one Adrian had. So where was Adrian's diamond pendant?
