Chapter 1094 A Bird with Clipped Wings
Even though Liliana had been pretty nice to Bella lately, she was still just following Nicholas's orders, acting like a human surveillance camera.
Bella knew it wasn't Liliana's fault; she was just doing her job and following orders. But after being locked up for so long, Bella couldn't bring herself to trust her. Leaning against the wall, she said, "Liliana, I need some alone time."
Liliana sighed, worried that Bella's constant moping would affect her health. "Ms. Swan, how about I bring you the tablet so you can watch some TV shows or something to pass the time?"
Bella nodded and thanked her. Nicholas had taken away her tablet after she upset him, leaving her with nothing to do but stare out the window all day.
The tablet was hooked up to the estate's network, but all she could do was watch some news and TV shows. No other functions were available.
Bored, Bella scrolled through the tablet. She didn't have any specific shows in mind, but then she spotted a movie called "The Nameless Road" starring Natalie. Her eyes lit up.
She hadn't been able to contact her parents or Natalie for a while. Seeing a familiar face gave her a bit of hope. She started the movie, remembering how she and Natalie had watched it together in the theater.
As she thought about those days of freedom, her eyes filled with tears. She didn't know when she'd be free again, afraid she'd be stuck here forever, like a bird with clipped wings. No matter how nice this place was, it wasn't what she wanted.
By the time Bella finished watching "The Nameless Road," it was already afternoon. She searched for Natalie's name on the video site, hoping to find another show to kill time.
Suddenly, her gaze froze, and her fingers started trembling.
Bella bit her lip and opened a video. It was a news report from six weeks ago about a car accident involving Adrian and Natalie. The perpetrator had been arrested and sentenced to seven years.
Bella's eyes widened as she recognized Avery in the video, wearing handcuffs. The ground was covered with shattered car parts and broken guardrails.
Her mind went blank. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
'How could this happen? Avery drove and killed Natalie?' Bella thought, her face turning pale. A sob caught in her throat, but the shock held her tears captive.
After what felt like forever, Bella used her trembling fingers to search for more news about Natalie. But the tablet had limited apps, and only this video site had a few videos, all posted a month ago.
'So how is Natalie now?' Bella wondered as she ran out in a panic, almost tripping down the stairs.
Liliana quickly caught her. "Ms. Swan, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" she asked, seeing Bella's panicked look and pale face.
Bella grabbed Liliana. "Liliana, my friend is in trouble. I need to go out. I need to find her. I don't know how she is. Her name is Natalie."
