She had been following Natalie recently and knew about the cruise ship, aware that Natalie was worried about her friend.
She also knew that people who disembarked from this cruise could get what they wanted.
She didn't expect Imogen to go on board as well.
What was she going to do?
Imogen had decent resources; although not top-tier, she was still a second-tier actress with a fan base and was consistently acting in films.
Natalie said to Xyla, "Go on."
"The cruise ship looked luxurious, but on the first night, we all slept in a big dormitory. There was a strange smell, a mix of odors that was hard to describe, but oddly, no one questioned why the accommodations were so poor."
"Only Rhett, a few young people, and I found it strange. But the door was locked, and we couldn't open it, so we spent the night there. The next day, I wanted to leave but couldn't. In the morning, someone came with an agreement."
"We had to sign it to go out for breakfast. Signing it meant we could leave the dormitory and not have to endure the unpleasant smell anymore. I was starving, so I glanced at the agreement. It roughly said that we voluntarily participated in the game, and if we lost, we would be punished. If we won, we would be rewarded."
Xyla licked her lips, "But the punishment wasn't specified, which worried me. However, many people around me signed and went out to get food. Rhett, who loves adventure and these kinds of thrilling games, also signed. I hesitated because I wanted to leave, but then someone outside said that if we were late, we wouldn't get breakfast. There were 97 of us on board, but only 95 breakfasts, meaning two people wouldn't get to eat. Hearing that, I immediately signed."
"I didn't get breakfast, but Rhett did. We shared one portion, so we weren't too hungry. I felt the place was unsafe, and the people and environment were strange. The day passed quickly. Lunch wasn't as tense; everyone got food, and it was lavish. There was caviar worth a thousand dollars a box, seafood sashimi platters, and all kinds of rare seafood laid out on a long table, with over a dozen types of wine. Rhett told me I was too tense and that it was just a themed cruise. Considering how expensive the tickets were, I thought it shouldn't be harmful, so I stayed. Finding one would grant a reward, fulfilling one wish. My boyfriend and I were very sleepy and didn't want to play a game in the middle of the night. I thought others would feel the same, but they seemed excited and started searching for the medals. I laughed and was about to go back to sleep, but Rhett got interested. Rhett always liked these kinds of little games."
