Chapter 14 I Have a Fiancée
"What else could we do? Cancel the engagement?" Curtis fumed, glaring at Alice, who was covered in hives.
Alice mumbled, "I usually don't react to alcohol. Who knew I'd be allergic to Cherry Wine?"
She wanted to explain more but feared making Curtis angrier, so she kept quiet.
Avery suggested Curtis go home and rest.
Knowing what Alice was worried about, Avery quickly reassured her. She said, "With Rosalie around, Natalie wouldn't dare act out. Just focus on getting better. Once you recover, you can return in style."
Alice obediently listened. The longer Natalie stayed close to Adrian, the higher the risk of being discovered. Alice couldn't let everything she had slip away to Natalie!
In a lecture hall at Ardentia University, Natalie listened to Bella gossiping, "I can't believe Alice is so lucky. How did Adrian fall for her?"
Bella leaned in and whispered, "Do you think the rumors are true? That she slept with Adrian?"
Natalie's hand paused mid-writing. Recalling Adrian's warmth that night, her breath quickened.
She took a deep breath and abruptly stood up. "I need to go to the restroom."
"But class is about to start! I heard today's lecture is by a new instructor from a top 100 company. You'll lose points if you're late," Bella warned.
Before Bella could finish, Natalie had already rushed out and collided with a man at the door, making Bella gasp and cover her mouth in surprise.
Natalie rubbed her sore nose, hearing the classroom buzz with excitement.
Before she could react, a deep voice above her asked, "Are you okay?"
It's Adrian!
Natalie looked up, seeing the tall, familiar figure of Adrian.
Adrian was also taken aback, his eyes flashing with surprise. "Alice?"
Natalie froze, suddenly realizing she wasn't wearing a mask!
She quickly turned away, stammering, "I'm not Alice."
Adrian frowned. Pretending not to know him? Was she upset he hadn't contacted her these past few days?
As Natalie tried to leave, the principal, who was following Adrian, gave her a disapproving look. "Class is about to start. Get back to your seat!"
She had no choice but to return to her seat.
Feeling Adrian's intense gaze on her, Natalie wished she could crawl under the desk.
On the podium, Adrian's deep voice came through the speakers. "Hello, everyone. I'm Adrian. I'll be your instructor for the next half semester."
The classroom erupted in excitement, especially among the female students, who bombarded him with questions.
Someone asked, "Adrian, do you have a girlfriend?"
Another chimed in, "Adrian, can we get your contact info?"
A girl inquired, "Adrian, what kind of girls do you like?"
Adrian smiled slightly, his eyes lingering on Natalie. "Sorry, I have a fiancée."
