Chapter 382 The Feeling of Loss

Mindy shook her head. "No way."

Natalie chatted and laughed with Mindy for a bit. After finishing her meal, she headed to the Imperial Nightclub.

It was the 26th, and she had five days left in the month. Even if she wanted to quit, she had to finish the month first.

Natalie went to Melody's office to tell her about resigning.

Melody was super supportive, almost like she was expecting it.

Melody smiled. "Natalie, from the first time I saw you, I knew you wouldn't stay long. You deserve better."

Natalie looked at her. "Thanks, Melody. Thanks for everything."

Melody laughed. "No need to thank me. Just don't forget me when you make it big."

"Of course," Natalie said. "Also, I need the night off."

Melody raised an eyebrow. "You never take time off, and now you've taken several days in a row."

Natalie smiled. "I have a date tonight."

Melody guessed. "Boyfriend?"

Natalie shrugged. "More like a man I can't afford to offend."

Melody guessed again. "Mr. Howard?"

Natalie nodded. "Didn't expect us to be so in sync."

"Enjoy your date with Mr. Howard," Melody said. As Natalie reached the door, she added, "Natalie, don't be too aggressive. Be a bit more gentle and coquettish; men love that. Especially with your looks. Use them while you're young. Don't be too stubborn, or you'll only hurt yourself."

Natalie stood still, back straight. "I know."

She used to be like that, but not anymore. She should make good use of her looks. She won't let Alice hurt Rosalie again.

In the evening, Natalie texted Adrian: [Mr. Howard, I'll be waiting for you at Starlight Cinema at 7:30.]

She took a cab to the mall, wandered around, and by 7:30 PM, she arrived at the theater. The next showing was a comedy, which she figured Adrian wouldn't like. The other option was a romantic drama, which she had already seen.

After some hesitation, she bought a ticket for a commercial action movie, thinking Adrian might enjoy it. With over twenty minutes to kill, she sat in the waiting area.

After ten minutes, Adrian still hadn't replied or called. Natalie got up, ordered a coffee, and continued to wait. Twenty minutes later, the announcement came that the movie was starting and those without check-in should hurry in.

Natalie glanced at her phone; still no reply.

She pressed her lips together.

It would be a lie to say she didn't feel anything. She was human, not a robot. Of course, she had feelings.

Natalie smiled self-deprecatingly.

Adrian had promised her that morning. But now he hadn't shown up.

Natalie knew he was probably with Alice. After all, he had to appease his fiancée.

But was this what disappointment felt like?

Usually, she didn't feel this bad even when Adrian misunderstood or bullied her. But now, her heart felt heavy, and her eyes stung.

She took a deep breath, finished her coffee in one gulp, and walked to the trash can to throw away her ticket.

"Hey, Miss, are you not planning to watch the movie?" someone called out.

Natalie turned to see a young girl, probably a college student. The girl smiled. "My boyfriend and I couldn't get tickets for this show. He really likes this movie. If you're not going to watch it, don't throw it away. Sell it to me."

Natalie's voice was a bit hoarse. "You can take it."
