Chapter 237 Forced to Admit

Natalie stared into Adrian's eyes and said, "Yes."

Adrian shot back, "Do you even believe the crap you're saying?"

"It's the truth. Why wouldn't I?" She repeated, "Alice hit herself! She framed me!"

"Alice, Alice, what happened to my daughter..." A frantic voice echoed from the hallway, followed by hurried footsteps.

Avery rushed in after she got the news. Seeing Natalie, Avery slapped her hard.

"I knew it was you. I knew you wanted to hurt my daughter!" Avery yelled.

Natalie was stunned, her left cheek numb with pain. She could even taste blood at the corner of her mouth.

Avery raised his hand to slap her again, but Adrian caught it. Adrian, looking displeased, stepped in front of Natalie. "Mrs. Cullen."

Avery, noticing Adrian, calmed down a bit. "Adrian, you have no idea. This Natalie is full of malice. She must have done something to my daughter. Alice is four months pregnant now—what if something happens?"

Natalie said firmly, "Believe it or not, I didn't hit her. That's the truth."

Avery thought for a moment. She understood that Natalie didn't have the audacity to harm Alice, so it was likely Alice's own doing. Avery mentally cursed Alice but had to publicly defend her.

With a pained expression, she looked at Natalie, saying, "Alice has always been so kind, so good to you. Natalie, how could you betray her like this? All you want is to seduce Mr. Howard and live out your vain dream of becoming a wealthy socialite. Don't forget, what about your mother lying in a hospital bed?" Avery gritted her teeth, reminding Natalie of her mother.

Natalie clenched her fists, her knuckles white.

She knew Avery was using Rosalie to threaten her.

Accepting the blame Alice had falsely pinned on her was an unfair loss she had no choice but to accept.

"Yes." She exhaled deeply. "I was jealous of Alice..."

Avery looked heartbroken and shocked, but inside, she was laughing triumphantly. "I knew it was you!"

Adrian watched Natalie change her tune so quickly. She had insisted it wasn't her, and now she admitted it. Adrian pressed his lips together, angry. "Natalie, I'll ask you one more time; did you push Alice?"

Natalie looked into Adrian's eyes.

She felt powerless and pathetic.

She gritted her teeth.

Finally, she trembled as she said, "Yes!"

"Good, very good." Adrian nodded, finally seeing Natalie for who she was.

He thought, 'She's full of lies. Everything she shows me is fake.'

After Adrian left, Avery slapped Natalie several more times. A passing nurse couldn't bear it. "Hey, no fighting in the hospital!"

Natalie gritted her teeth, tasting blood in her mouth.

Her vision blurred. Her ears rang. But her back stayed straight.

She looked at Avery, her eyes cold. Avery snorted arrogantly. "Natalie, I know your little schemes. You got close to Adrian on purpose, hoping he'd find out you were the woman in the hotel that night. Your mother's life is in your hands. Rosalie's fate is up to you."

Natalie said, "You don't want me near Adrian so bad, Avery. So why don't you let my mother go, and I'll leave Vachilit with her."
