Chapter 438 Dispute
Esme gave Natalie the once-over. "Girl, you got the looks, the bod, and the vibe. Pick roles that fit you and take care of yourself. Dynamic Entertainment Media's top-tier, tons of roles to snag."
Mid-meal, Natalie's phone buzzed on the table. 'Mr. Howard' flashed on the screen. Harper noticed and teased, "Natalie, your man's calling."
Natalie had a boyfriend; it wasn't a secret on set, given Adrian's punctual twice-daily calls.
Esme was a bit taken aback. Natalie seemed so young to have a boyfriend. Maybe that's why, despite her killer looks and vibe, she only got supporting roles while Samantha, another newbie, snagged the lead.
No wonder Chris said she was all lovestruck.
Natalie excused herself to take the call. Adrian mentioned he had plans tonight, sounded noisy and grumpy on his end. Natalie just nodded and didn't pry.
She came back to the room.
Chris eyed her. "Can't you dump your boyfriend?"
Natalie stayed cool. "It's complicated."
Chris sighed. "How is this any different from throwing in the towel on your career? If you hit the big time, it's just more fuel for the fire."
Natalie grinned, "Thanks, Chris, for believing I can make it big." She flashed a playful smile. Chris thought, 'Natalie, you really know how to play the game!'
Harper was curious. "Is your boyfriend in the biz?"
Natalie shrugged, "Kinda."
Big investors in the entertainment world counted as part of the industry, right?
Meanwhile, at the hospital...
A bunch of pros crowded a ward.
The doc said, "Ms. Lawson's stable, but still out cold. Her body's been shut down too long. If familiar faces stay with her and call out, she might wake up. It's a medical miracle!"
Jamie pressed his lips. "How soon?"
The doc replied, "No exact time, but it's already a miracle."
Jamie walked out, spotting Adrian. Adrian asked, "How is she?"
Jamie clenched his fist. "You don't deserve to ask."
Adrian's voice was cold. "Jamie, you're the one who doesn't deserve to mention her!"
Jamie snapped, "If it weren't for you, my sister wouldn't be like this. Adrian, she's been lying here for 8 years!"
In those 8 years, Jamie and Adrian went from tight bros to strangers.
Jamie thought Andrea would never wake up. Now, with signs of hope, he could wait a bit longer.
Natalie shot two ads this week, one for a bag and one for perfume.
Next week, she had a lipstick gig.
Natalie was chilling in the company lounge. Her space was decked out, even had a microwave thanks to Yvonne.
Yvonne handed her a coffee. "Just saw Heather and Tessa going at it."
Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Tessa?"
Yvonne plopped down next to her. "Samantha's assistant and distant cousin. They had a big blowout. Tessa's just an assistant but was cussing out Heather. Heather's solid, though."
Natalie nodded. "Heather's good people."
On set, Heather always had her back when she was acting with Samantha.
Yvonne added, "They're still at it in the meeting room. Lydia and Mindy are there, and of course, Samantha's siding with her cousin."
Natalie stood up. "Let's go check it out."
