Chapter 252 The Cullen Family Dinner (1)
When Alice arrived back at the Cullen family, Renee walked over and said, "Ms. Cullen, Natalie moved out."
Alice raised an eyebrow. "Moved out?" She went to the balcony, opened the door, and saw the back house was locked. She headed upstairs to find Avery in the study. "Mom, Natalie left. Why didn't you stop her?"
"Why would I?" Avery was practicing calligraphy and didn't even look up. "She has legs, doesn't she? Besides, we still have Rosalie under control. What's the worry?"
Alice walked closer. "I'm just worried she'll go rogue if she's out of our control."
Avery looked at her. "Go rogue? Alice, you should worry about your own issues first."
Alice, fearing Avery's anger, took the pen from her hand and clung to her arm, acting sweet. "Mom, I won't. I've got everything under control. Promise."
"Good." Avery nodded, looking at Alice. Alice was great in many ways but tended to be impulsive, spoiled by her. She increasingly disliked Natalie.
Natalie looked like Alice and was Rosalie's daughter. Rosalie had always outshone her in every way since childhood. Whenever they were together, Rosalie got all the attention. Despite coming from a distinguished family, while Rosalie's background was much more ordinary, she always felt overshadowed by Rosalie.
Her daughter was stuck in the same predicament. Alice and Natalie looked alike, but Natalie was better in every way. Even though Rosalie's family lived in a dark, hidden house, Natalie was so beautiful it made her feel stifled.
Avery said, "Alice, invite Adrian and Mrs. Howard over for dinner in the next few days. We need to strengthen our ties with their family."
Alice knew Adrian would use work as an excuse if she invited him alone. So, she called Claire.
Claire agreed immediately. "Sure, how about Wednesday? Adrian and I will come over."
Alice said sweetly, "Okay, I'll prepare the meal and wait for you."
Claire was concerned about Alice's pregnancy. "Take care of yourself. Why did you leave the hospital so soon? You should rest more. How are you feeling? Any discomfort?" After all, Alice was carrying the Howard family's great-grandchild.
Alice replied, "Don't worry. I have medication to protect the pregnancy. The doctor said I just need to rest at home."
On Wednesday afternoon, Claire called Adrian. "Adrian, are you free tonight?"
Adrian checked his watch. "Yes, Mom. What's up?"
Claire said, "Come with me to the Cullen family home. I haven't seen Alice in a while. And you should visit more to strengthen your relationship."
Adrian refused, "Mom, you go by yourself."
"Oh, this is your fiancée's home. Alice is carrying your child. How can I go alone?" Claire suspected Adrian was neglecting Alice because of Natalie.
Under Claire's insistence, Adrian agreed.
At 6:25 PM, a black sedan stopped at the gate of the Cullen Villa.
