Chapter 841 Blunt Knife
Natalie had skipped birth control a bunch of times, but still, no baby.
Her vision was kinda fuzzy, but she could discern Adrian's face.
Natalie's voice was barely a whisper as she opened her mouth.
Adrian was taken aback by this question. He looked at Natalie with a couple of red patches on her cheeks. She was half-curled up on the silver-gray couch, looking tiny and fragile.
Adrian lowered his eyes.
Of course, he wanted a kid with Natalie.
He got down on one knee, reached out, and gently touched her eyebrows with his fingertips. "We'll have one."
Natalie shook her head, took Adrian's hand, and placed it on her belly. "No. I didn't take care of it. I didn't cherish it. It came and then it left."
Adrian's whole body shook.
He thought, 'What's she talking about? What came and left? Could it be...'
"Natalie, what are you saying?" Adrian held her hand tighter. "Are you saying you were pregnant with my child?"
Natalie wrinkled her face as if some horrible memories flooded into her mind. Avery had used her as a stand-in and made her have an abortion. The baby was so small, she didn't even know, and then it was gone, leaving her with so much pain.
Natalie's brows furrowed, and her breathing got a bit rapid.
Adrian looked at her, worried. "Natalie, Natalie!"
The recall of that child was like a dull knife, stabbing into Natalie's chest.
Every now and then, it would hurt, and she'd remember.
Natalie looked at Adrian. "Adrian, will you blame me?"
"No." Adrian's voice was dry and hoarse. He never thought Natalie had been pregnant with his child and lost it.
Adrian knelt on the carpet, his chin gently resting on her forehead.
He asked, "When did this happen? Tell me."
But Natalie had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep.
Adrian looked at her, planting a light kiss on her lips.
That night, Adrian couldn't sleep.
Natalie didn't know how much she had hidden from Adrian, and Adrian didn't know how much he owed Natalie.
The next morning.
Natalie opened her eyes and found herself in her own bed. She almost forgot how she got back last night, but she did remember Yancy had mixed some new cocktails, and they all tried them. Actually, Heather and Yancy stayed at the bar. Derek had took Natalie and Bella home and brought Natalie upstairs.
Natalie sat up, her head aching a bit. She got out of bed and saw that her clothes had been changed into pajamas. She was stunned, then glanced at the spot next to her. It was smooth, with no signs of anyone having rested there. She reached out and touched it lightly; it was indeed cold.
Natalie thought, 'Is Adrian not here? Then who changed my clothes? It couldn't have been Derek. Derek wouldn't do that.'
Natalie walked out barefoot. Even in the middle of winter, she didn't feel cold. The carpet underfoot was soft.
In the living room, there was a faint scent of men's cologne in the air, proving to Natalie that Adrian had indeed been here.
She went to the kitchen and saw that Adrian had boiled some eggs and left a note.
She picked it up and looked at it.
[There are eggs in the pot and milk. I went out for a bit, and will be back soon.]
Natalie's gaze fell on the words "will be back soon." However, she just couldn't fathom out why the spot next to her was cold and undisturbed.
