Chapter 183 Remembering Clearly
Natalie had done everything. She did whatever Avery and Alice asked. She never considered revealing the matter, but Avery, she dared to change Rosalie's medication on her own, leading to Rosalie's current coma.
So, why should she continue to heed their threats?
Alice had never seen such coldness in Natalie's eyes. In that instant, she felt a twinge of fear.
'What nonsense are you spouting? Your mother is perfectly fine! Natalie, you promised me that you wouldn't speak of this. Your mother's kidney was replaced, and it was my mother and I who paid for it. You owe a debt of gratitude to us!'
A faint, mocking smile played at Natalie's eyes. “Of course, I remember. In the eight years I spent with the Cullen family, I remember your kindness very clearly.”
Alice watched Natalie smile, but something about it unsettled her. She feared the exposure of this matter. Originally, Natalie was easy to manipulate. With Rosalie in their hands, Natalie would do whatever they asked. But now, Natalie's attitude had suddenly shifted.
“Natalie, you promised us to keep this matter a secret. You've been with the Cullen family for so many years. We wouldn't treat you unfairly.” Alice wasn’t a foolish. She refrained from her usual bullying. Seeing Natalie's current demeanor, she dared not insult her further. After all, with Rosalie in their hands, she decided to endure for now and resolve the immediate issue. 'Natalie, let's quickly change our clothes. I know you might have come here by accident.'
Natalie watched Alice's attitude and faintly curled her lips.
“I did come here by accident.” Sensing the relief in Alice's eyes, she continued slowly, “But the Howard family is heavily guarded. How did Ms. Cullen get here? Oh, I forgot, it must have been Carlos who brought you.”
Mentioning Carlos's name again, Alice's expression changed instantly.
No one was supposed to know about her and Carlos. It must have been Carlos mistaking Natalie for her, and Natalie discovered their relationship!
Alice knew Carlos all too well. This realization made her anxious.
Feeling guilty and fearing that Natalie had discovered her relationship with Carlos, Alice stiffly said, “Carlos and I are just good friends. Natalie, don't you just want to see your mother? How about this, I'll arrange for you to see your mother tomorrow, okay?”
Seeing Natalie's indifferent expression, Alice gritted her teeth. “As long as you behave, or rather, keep this matter to yourself, you can see your mother anytime you want.”
“Is that so?” Natalie raised an eyebrow. “Anytime?”
“Of course.” Seeing Natalie waver, Alice quickly added, “Anytime. Let's change our clothes quickly. It's getting late. After we change, I'll have Carlos take you away from here.”
Natalie had no desire to attend the Howard family's banquet. She had been mistaken for Alice by some reporters on the ferry. Now, she took off her coat and handed it to Alice. They exchanged clothes, and Alice applied a lighter makeup to match Natalie's look, even putting some eye drops in her eyes. They looked indistinguishable.
Natalie removed her makeup and tidied her hair. They walked out of the villa one after the other.
