Chapter 1332 Harmonious Interaction
Beatrix never imagined she could escape that dark place.
She stumbled into the city.
Seeing the bright city lights, she burst into tears.
She knew she was safe now.
She had escaped the abyss.
Beatrix had no money on her. She found a kind stranger who called the police for her. About twenty minutes later, a police car arrived.
Beatrix felt a long-lost warmth. The moment she saw the officers step out, her heart finally settled, and she cried tears of relief.
Not far away, a man in black watched Beatrix get into the police car. He took out his phone and made a report.
Far away in Emberfall City.
Isaac received the news and immediately told Rachel.
Rachel was surprised at how quickly Isaac had handled things.
He had mentioned it just yesterday, and now it was done.
Rachel was a bit skeptical. "Really?"
"I never lie," Isaac assured her. To put Rachel at ease, he showed her a photo on his phone. It was a picture someone had sent him of Beatrix getting into the police car. Rachel glanced at it, let out a long breath, and smiled. It was such a relief.
Isaac said, "Now you can stay here without worry."
Rachel didn't want to stay here, but for now, she had no choice but to wait for someone to rescue her.
She went upstairs.
As usual, she had no bedroom of her own.
When it was time, she was forced into Elmer's bedroom.
The couch was her bed. Rachel lay on the couch, this time with a blanket.
Holding her tablet, Rachel walked to the door and knocked.
She gave a direct order, "Hey, get me a bag of nuts and a fruit platter!"
The bodyguard looked at her, seemingly considering whether to comply.
Rachel said, "Didn't you hear Isaac? I'm the lady of the house now. The whole of Emberfall City is mine. Now hurry up!"
Isaac had indeed said something like that.
One of the bodyguards went to prepare what she wanted. Ten minutes later, he brought the nuts and fruit platter.
Rachel sat on the couch, covered with a small blanket, watching a horror movie while eating fruit.
The bedroom was large, with excellent lighting and ventilation, though the curtains were drawn. Rachel opened the curtains and looked at the man sitting at the desk reading.
"I'll close them again during the day. It's not good for your health to have no ventilation all the time."
Elmer didn't say anything. He seemed tired from reading and pinched the bridge of his nose.
Rachel picked up the fruit platter and walked over. "There are blueberries here. Do you want some?"
The man didn't respond, treating Rachel as if she were invisible.
Rachel placed the fruit platter in front of him. "Hey, I'm talking to you."
Rachel moved a bit closer.
Elmer looked up suddenly, staring at Rachel's face. His pupils contracted, and a flash of surprise appeared in his eyes. Rachel stood not far from him, her long hair draped over her shoulders, wearing light pink loungewear.
Her bare face was fair and delicate, almost glowing in the light. She blinked, looking a bit impatient but with a good-natured smile for some reason.
Previously, her face had looked terrible because of her makeup. He hadn't expected that without it, she would look so... beautiful.
