Chapter 1099 Eavesdropping on the Call
When Ronnie was the CEO of Star Entertainment, he felt pretty wronged, but he couldn't go against Cassidy's plans.
Nicholas dialed Liliana's number.
"Mr. Reynolds, Mrs. Reynolds fainted after hearing about Natalie. She just woke up a bit ago," Liliana reported.
"Fainted? How's she doing now?" he asked.
"She's okay now, but the doctor said she needs to avoid any more intense emotional stuff; it's bad for the baby. She just woke up and used my phone to call you, but another woman answered. Mrs. Reynolds wasn't too happy about that."
Nicholas said, "Got it."
He hadn't expected Delilah to go to his office and pick up his phone in just those few minutes.
Nicholas drove straight to Golden Crest Manor, which Kade always managed.
As Nicholas's car pulled into Golden Crest Manor, he got out, and Kade immediately walked over. "Mr. Reynolds."
"How's Bella?"
Kade said, "The doctor checked on her, and she's fine now. I called you right away, but some strange woman answered and hung up rudely."
Nicholas walked into the living room.
Liliana saw him as she was prepping some afternoon pastries. "Mr. Reynolds, you're back. Mrs. Reynolds is upstairs."
Nicholas asked, "How did she find out about Natalie?"
"This afternoon, I saw Mrs. Reynolds was bored, so I wanted to show her a TV show or movie to cheer her up. But there was a news report about Natalie and Mr. Howard's car accident on the video app, and Mrs. Reynolds saw it and fainted," Liliana explained.
Locked up here for months, Bella hadn't been in good spirits these past few days.
When Bella saw Nicholas, she thought she was seeing things. With a faint, sarcastic smile, she said, "I thought you'd be with the woman on the phone right now."
"Are you jealous?"
Bella's face tightened for a few seconds. "Nicholas, I won't be jealous because of you. I don't love you. Whoever you like and whoever you're with has nothing to do with me. You've kept me here for three months, Nicholas. Do you know how I've spent these months?"
She closed her eyes in frustration. "I need a reason. Tell me, why are you keeping me here?"
Nicholas wanted to go head-to-head with Cassidy. At first, he was scared Cassidy would hurt Bella, so he kept her here to protect her, not to imprison her.
When Bella said she liked Austin, Nicholas's jealousy and possessiveness went through the roof. He wanted to keep Bella by his side forever. He wanted to create a crystal cage for Bella, so she would always be inside.
Nicholas clenched his fists. "Once you give birth, I'll let you go. You better make sure this child is safe."
"Just because of this child?" Bella gently placed her hand on her abdomen, which didn't show much in three months. But she was too thin. "Nicholas, I promise to give birth to this child for you, but you have to give me my phone. I need to make a call. You can monitor my calls."
