Chapter 684 The Diamond Ring

Natalie was still figuring out her next movie gig. She didn't want to chill for too long and was hoping to jump into a new project after a couple of weeks off.

But, finding the right script was a pain.

Out of nowhere, her phone buzzed. She glanced at the caller ID. "Hey, Chris."

"Just wrapped up your latest flick? Congrats! Got some free time now?" Chris asked.

Chris was the assistant director she met while shooting "Summer Time." They hit it off pretty well on set.

"Yeah," Natalie replied.

Chris jumped in, "Picked your next project yet? I got a script with a lead role that’s perfect for you. Wanna check it out?"

"Sure thing, Chris. Shoot it over to my email, and I'll give it a look," Natalie said.

She sent Chris her email. About ten minutes later, the script landed in her inbox. It was the whole deal.

Natalie had been in the biz for about a year, but this was the first time she got a full script upfront.

She knew the drill. Usually, only big shots like Wendy got to see around 60% of a script.

Chris sending her the whole thing was a big deal.

This was Chris's baby; he wrote the script himself.

The story was about a 17-year-old girl who started working, met the male lead, and they went on this wild ride, breaking up and getting back together. Then, She moved to the big city, became a manager of a small company by 30, and, fed up with the rules, started her own business, raking in over a hundred million bucks a year by 32. Total rags-to-riches, boss lady vibes.

Natalie spent the afternoon diving into the script. After finishing, she called Chris, and they chatted for two hours, finally deciding to go for it.

Filming was set to kick off on the 6th of next month.

Natalie mentioned the script to Heather and left the rest to her.

Heather told Natalie she had already talked it over with Melody, who was on board as soon as she heard Natalie's name.

Melody was now the deputy manager of Imperial Nightclub. Emma had been canned.

The next afternoon, Adrian showed up at Natalie's place straight from the airport.

Natalie had checked his flight time and whipped up some lunch. She made pizza from scratch.

Hearing the key in the lock, Natalie got out of her room. It was Adrian, and she walked over. Adrian hugged her, kissed her neck, her face, her forehead, and finally her lips. They shared a deep kiss. Natalie patted his chest. "Go hit the shower. Hungry? I made pizza."

Adrian kissed her a bit longer before heading to the bathroom.

Natalie had the pizza ready, sliced, and set on the dining table.

Adrian came out in a bathrobe. "Close your eyes."

Natalie did as told.

Adrian walked over with a deep blue velvet jewelry box. "Open your eyes."

Natalie opened her eyes. "What's this? All secretive."

"Open it and see," Adrian said.

Natalie saw the box and knew it was jewelry. "You've already spoiled me with so much bling. My closet's bursting."

Adrian lifted her chin, nudging her to open it.

Natalie opened the box. Inside was a pearl diamond ring.

A round, plump light pink pearl in the center, surrounded by a circle of one-carat pink diamonds, sparkling like crazy.
