Chapter 636 The Reason
In the evening in Vilniusky, Natalie was chillin' in her hotel room, going over the script, when Heather barged in. "Did you catch the trending news? When did you give Mrs. Teeger that bling? And it wasn't cheap."
Natalie had seen it earlier and figured it was from Bella, 'cause it had Bella's jewelry logo on it. She didn't bother sending Bella the money, knowing Bella wouldn't take it anyway. Natalie told Heather, "Hit up the mall and grab a bag for me to give to Bella."
Heather nodded. "Got it."
She also bought some fruit and stashed it in the fridge.
Natalie glanced at the script, rubbed her temples, and said to Heather, "Go tell the production team I'm cool with giving up my lead role."
Heather looked a bit shocked.
Natalie went on, "Samuel's got mad skills, experience, and a killer rep in film and TV. I'm just a newbie; it's kinda whack for me to outshine Samuel."
Heather nodded, "I just realized today when I saw Samuel that he's the male lead in this flick. With his current status, he's super picky about his projects. He rarely acts unless it's a favor or the script's dope. It's wild that he agreed to be the male lead and partner with you."
Natalie said, "Yeah, I'm pretty surprised too..." She was already cast as the female lead.
Usually, the male lead would be a newbie or an actor with decent skills but not much fame. She didn't expect Samuel to take the role.
Natalie pursed her lips. "Please go talk to the production team."
Heather said, "Looks like Samuel's being billed as a guest star."
In film and TV, there were special appearances, guest appearances, and cameos. Cameos usually didn't get paid and were just quick appearances.
But a guest appearance meant the actor's got high status, and the other actor's status was too low. They didn't wanna be overshadowed but weren't the main lead, so they were billed as a guest star.
Natalie said, "Even if it's a guest appearance, Samuel should be the top-billed guest star."
Heather got it, knowing how Natalie rolls. "Alright, I'll hit up the production team right away."
Natalie's phone, chillin' on the coffee table, buzzed. She thought it was a message from Adrian, but when she picked it up, it was from Samuel.
Samuel: [Dinner?]
After a few seconds, Natalie replied: [Sure.]
Samuel had booked a table at a chill Chinese restaurant. His assistant drove to pick up Natalie.
They got tailed by paparazzi, but the assistant's driving skills shook them off.
The restaurant was locked down by Samuel, no one could snap pics.
Natalie, rocking sunglasses and a mask, arrived at a private room on the third floor.
Samuel was by the window. When he saw Natalie, he stood up and helped her with her chair.
Samuel said, "I ordered a few signature dishes. Anything else you want? Here's the menu."
Natalie smiled. "You pick. I'm good with anything."
She took off her sunglasses and mask. No makeup, but her face was still clear and glowing under the dim yellow light.
Samuel said, "Looking forward to working together for the next two months."
Natalie smiled. "Likewise."
When Samuel saw her smile, with her eyes and eyebrows curved, he was momentarily stunned. "Aren't you curious?"
Natalie asked, "About what?"
Samuel looked at her. "Why I took this role."
