Chapter 823 It's Her Life
John leaned back and said, "Forget about the twenty million you owe me. If you ever run into any trouble at school, just come to me."
"Are you the owner of this casino?" Clayton had seen how powerful this place was over the past few days. As a teenager, he craved recognition and admired power. Having someone as capable and powerful as John as his godfather was a dream come true. He quickly said, "Godfather."
Clayton dropped to his knees and bowed to John.
"Good boy." John grinned and helped Clayton up. He turned to his bodyguard and said, "From now on, Clayton is my godson. Treat him with the utmost respect whenever he comes here. Got it?"
"Got it!"
Clayton was ushered into the VIP lounge and treated to Wagyu beef and some exclusive dishes from Vachilit's top private kitchen, usually reserved for VIPs. Clayton felt on top of the world. With a godfather like John, he could strut around school with confidence.
Even though his family was well-off—his dad worked at a bank and his mom was a deputy director at a hospital—they were too straight-laced and didn't have the kind of influence John had.
Seeing this, John pulled out a few membership cards to high-end places in Vachilit, including a gold card for a top-tier restaurant. "From now on, just charge it to me when you go to these places."
Clayton was thrilled and quickly took the cards. "Thanks, Godfather."
Just then, John's phone rang. His assistant told him Eudora had arrived.
In less than five minutes, Eudora walked into the VIP room, worried sick about Clayton. But she saw him playing games and eating fancy food, looking perfectly fine. She had been losing sleep, fearing something terrible had happened to him. She had even compromised her medical ethics to do what Carlos had asked because Clayton was her world.
Seeing Clayton safe, she felt tears welling up. She rushed over. "You scared me to death these past few days."
If this had happened half an hour earlier, Clayton would have promised his mom he'd never be gambling again. But now, with John as his godfather, he smiled and introduced John to her, "Mom, I'm fine. Look, I have a godfather now."
Eudora was taken aback. She hadn't noticed the third person in the room until now. And she recognized him. It was her middle school classmate, John.
Eudora's eyes widened. "You."
John smiled. "Eudora, long time no see."
Eudora looked at John, while Clayton was excited. "Mom, you know Godfather?"
Eudora was confused. "Godfather?"
John chuckled and said, "It's all a big misunderstanding that's been cleared up. Clayton doesn't owe any money. He was just being foolish. Clayton and I hit it off, so I made him my godson."
Eudora frowned but knew John was powerful now, not the helpless orphan in patched clothes. She just wanted her son safe. "As long as the misunderstanding is cleared up. Can I take my son home now?"
"Of course. But I'd love to catch up with you. It's been ages since we last met." He turned to Clayton, "Clayton, you stay here and have fun. I'll go chat with your mom."
"Okay," Clayton replied animatedly.
