Chapter 223 Searching for Treasure

Natalie was caught off guard. "I'll go back with you."

Ashley, looking pale and in pain, knew Natalie's family wasn't well-off. Natalie had joined this adventure for the $300,000 prize. Ashley didn't care about the money, but Natalie did. Ashley thought Natalie was worried about her.

Lying on Colby's back, Ashley said to Natalie, "Don't you still want to get the 'treasure'? I'm fine. Once we get to the rest area and I ice it for a bit, I'll be okay."

Natalie hesitated but eventually nodded. The $300,000 reward was a huge temptation for her.

Colby said, "Adrian and I looked at the map earlier. The 'treasure' should be around here."

Rachel left with Ashley and Colby. Natalie took out the map and examined it carefully, marking their current location. She took out her phone and checked the compass.

Behind her, there was a rustling sound in the grass. Natalie turned around and saw Adrian walking in the opposite direction. She initially wanted to go the other way, but according to the map, the 'treasure' seemed to be his direction. She gritted her teeth, watched Adrian's figure almost disappear, and then quickly followed.

Adrian didn't care about the mere hundreds of thousands of dollars. The reward was something he had set up himself, but men naturally have a spirit of adventure and conquest.

The 'treasure' was placed by Loren, the vice president of the hotel and the person in charge of this adventure. He had a helicopter mark a landmark within the safe zone. These wealthy people came to Pearl Island for a seven-day trip; the adventure was just one part of it. To ensure their health, Loren had already cleared the obstacles in the safe zone. There were protective nets in the deeper areas, and a helicopter was patrolling the sky to prevent accidents.

Although safety was guaranteed here, it wasn't absolute.

In an unfamiliar place with an unfamiliar environment and overgrown weeds, Natalie was a bit scared. She quickly caught up with Adrian.

Adrian walked ahead and suddenly stopped after a few steps.

Natalie, looking down to check the time, bumped her forehead into Adrian's back. She stepped back and rubbed her forehead.

Adrian's deep voice came from above her. "Give me the map."

Natalie handed over the map.

Adrian examined it carefully. "We're here now, and the 'treasure' is here. We need to go north."

Natalie leaned in. "But there's an artificial lake here." She pointed with her slender finger. "We were just by the lake. To get there, we need to go around the back of the lake."

It would take some time.

Adrian closed the map and continued walking ahead. He pursed his lips and said nothing, but his steps were steady. Natalie followed closely behind, looking at Adrian's tall, slender figure. He wore a gray tracksuit, but it gave her a sense of security, easing her wariness of the unfamiliar surroundings.

It felt like she would reach the final point as long as she followed him.

Around the lake, the grass was thick, the air was humid, and there were more mosquitoes and insects. Natalie watched her every step carefully. Suddenly, a black and green bug jumped onto her foot, startling her and almost making her scream.

She looked up and met Adrian's teasing gaze.

He was enjoying her embarrassment. "I thought you weren't afraid of anything."

Natalie, a girl who dared to come here alone, was nothing like those socialites.

If Rachel encountered such a bug, she would probably be scared to faint.
