Chapter 269 Origins (4)
Curtis sighed heavily. "Avery, I'll explain later. This diamond pendant is Natalie's. Ask Alice to give it back to her."
Alice wouldn't back down. "Mom, Adrian gave me this as an engagement token. I don't know how Natalie tricked Dad into believing her!"
Avery sided with Alice. "Curtis, what are you saying?" She pointed at him. "Are you really going to help Natalie? As long as I'm here, the pendant stays with Alice. If you dare, divorce me!"
Curtis couldn't stand being threatened. His face darkened. "Are you serious?"
Avery wasn't serious; she was just angry. If they divorced, Rosalie would benefit. Her eyes reddened. "How could you say that? If I say yes, will you divorce me right away? Have you wanted this all along just so you can finally be with Rosalie?"
"Avery, you brought it up." Curtis was tired of their drama. He wanted peace. He used to tolerate Avery's antics, but the pendant brought back old memories, making him uncomfortable.
Natalie, watching the scene, clapped her hands. "Done with your drama? A diamond pendant, divorce—how amusing."
"Natalie?" Avery pointed at her, anger flaring. "You better get out, or else—"
"Or else what? Threaten me with my mother?" Natalie smiled coldly, walking towards Avery. "Are you saying you'll cut off her medication and let her die in the asylum?"
Curtis was shocked. "What did you say? Cut off medication, asylum?"
Avery's face changed. She quickly stood in front of Curtis. "Curtis, don't listen to her lies!"
Curtis pushed Avery aside, looking at Natalie. "Explain, what happened to your mother?"
Didn't Rosalie have surgery? He'd tried to contact her but couldn't. He thought Natalie was hiding her from him on purpose.
Natalie found it laughable. "Curtis, now you care about my mother? Shouldn't you hope we're both dead to clear your conscience about my father's death?"
Curtis said, "Natalie, I've always felt guilty. I wanted to talk to your mother but couldn't find her. I'm truly sorry for your family."
Curtis was sincere. He felt sorry for Rosalie and the Teeger family.
Natalie frowned, not understanding Curtis's act. She glanced at Avery, saying, "Ask your wife and daughter where my mom is. Your family is despicable. My father and brother died because of you. And now, my mom continues to suffer because of Avery and Alice."
Curtis looked at Avery, his eyes cold as he questioned, "Avery, where is Rosalie?"
