Chapter 518 Interview
Adrian bailing was a real gut punch for those hoping to hang onto him. Natalie peeked at her phone; just ten minutes ago, Adrian had texted her saying he had some work to handle and had to bounce for a bit.
Natalie bit her lip.
Samantha was ticked off. With Adrian gone, she had no one to lean on. If she couldn't latch onto him now, her future was looking pretty bleak. She didn't want to be stuck at Dynamic Entertainment Media forever.
Eunice scanned the room but didn't spot Adrian, feeling a bit let down. She had just caught a glimpse of him from a distance.
Man, there really was such a perfect guy out there.
Too bad he didn't even look her way.
On stage, they were announcing the awards for this year's Best Actor and Best Actress.
Best Actor went to Christopher Wright.
Now, Best Actress.
When the host called out "Penelope," most folks were floored.
Dynamic Entertainment Media actually gave it to Penelope instead of Wendy.
Penelope was rocking a long dress today. She must've known ahead of time, 'cause she had a big smile as she walked up to give her speech.
This award show was being streamed live everywhere.
The camera occasionally cut to Wendy in the audience.
Wendy was in a sleek, form-fitting dress, sparkling under the lights, looking all proud. Her face was a blank slate—no disappointment, no surprise, just a polite smile. Her expression game was on point.
From Wendy's perfect poker face, they couldn't tell a thing.
After the awards, Wendy and Penelope got interviewed. The media wasn't gonna miss a chance for some juicy gossip. Even though Wendy was a big deal and the media were kinda nervous, they still needed the scoop.
A reporter asked, "Wendy, do you watch any shows when you're chilling at home? Got any recommendations?"
Wendy listed a few movies she'd recently watched.
The reporter pressed on, "Have you seen Penelope's show? It's got pretty good ratings and viewership. What do you think?"
Her agent looked like he wanted to cut the question off.
Wendy smiled slightly. "Yeah, I've seen it; it's alright. But my taste is different from the audience's. To be exact, everyone's got their own style. I prefer the shows I mentioned earlier."
Then she got up and left.
The two media folks exchanged looks. Wasn't that a clear diss at Penelope?
Next up was Penelope.
Penelope's makeup was on point today, and her dress made her pop. She already had striking features, and the dress added a fresh vibe.
Penelope greeted the camera. "Good evening. I'm Penelope."
The media asked a few standard questions, all pre-approved.
Penelope answered them all smoothly.
Then came the big one: "Penelope, now that you've snagged the Best Actress award, any changes in your future role plans? Was it stressful competing against Wendy for this award?"
Penelope laughed. "Oh, for sure, it was stressful. When I first got into the biz, I watched Wendy's movies. I've seen every single one and loved them. Winning Best Actress this time, I feel super lucky and will keep working hard."
Penelope's words, paired with her expression, made her seem super innocent.
Especially when she said she felt lucky and would keep working hard, with that bright, determined smile. If Wendy saw this interview, she'd probably be fuming.
