Chapter 814 A Reunion With an Old Friend
Natalie got up and waved goodbye to Lauchelle.
Once she was in the car, she couldn't wait to call Adrian. She tried twice, but no luck—no answer.
Maybe Adrian's tied up with something.
It was the day after Christmas.
The streets were pretty empty and quiet, not many pedestrians around.
When they drove past the Imperial Nightclub, there were still a bunch of fancy cars parked outside.
Natalie thought about Melody, the first person she met here who had really helped her out.
She pulled out her phone and dialed Melody.
Since Natalie had changed her number a few times, Melody answered with, "Hello, this is Melody. Who's this?"
"Hey, Melody, it's me," Natalie said.
There was a pause, then Melody's voice lit up, "Natalie! I was wondering who it is. Got a new number, huh?"
"Yeah, it's my new number," Natalie replied and asked Derek to pull over for a bit.
"Melody, it's Christmas. Are you off work?" Natalie asked.
Melody sighed, "Nope. I only got yesterday off. Been busy at the Imperial Nightclub. It's quieter 'cause of Christmas, but we still have our regulars."
They kept chatting away.
Natalie whispered to Derek, "I'm heading into the Imperial Nightclub to see an old friend. Take an hour off."
Derek nodded, letting her know to call if she needed anything.
Natalie took the staff elevator up to Melody's office.
On the phone, Melody was still talking about the latest happenings at the nightclub, "You've been away for almost two years. We got a new assistant manager, tough as nails, kinda like Emma. Not a fan, but I don't sweat it anymore."
Natalie chuckled, "Well, you're a vice president now."
Melody laughed, "You always know how to make me smile. I used to worry about you, but you've got the looks, the talent, and the luck. You've really made it in the entertainment world. I watched your new movie 'The Nameless Road' as soon as it came out yesterday. It's fantastic."
"Thanks, Melody."
Melody went on, "If you have time, I'll show you around the Imperial Nightclub again. It's changed a lot. The lobby's been renovated, looks even more grand. It's now the top entertainment spot in Vachilit. The boss has tightened up management, no more customers bullying the staff, and the waitstaff got a handsome raise, plus double the attendance bonus."
"That's awesome," Natalie said with a smile.
Melody added, "I also have a new assistant, just like you, gentle and meticulous. I'm planning to treat her like my own sister."
Natalie gently knocked on the door.
Melody said, "Oh, it's Christmas, but I'm still swamped. Someone's here to see me. Gotta go. I'll save your number, and we'll catch up later."
After hanging up, Melody lit a slim cigarette and walked to the door, opening it.
Seeing Natalie standing there, she was stunned.
She couldn't help but let out a curse, feeling a rush of excitement.
