Chapter 1411 Soul-Stirring Dreams
Rachel looked at Chloe and said seriously, "I don't want to leave him right now. He treats me well, and I'm happy here."
Chloe understood what Rachel meant. "I get it. Do you have any contact info? A phone? So I can reach you if anything comes up, and also... you've been gone so long, I don't even have anyone to vent to anymore."
Rachel nodded. "I'm not using my old Facebook account anymore. This is my new one, add me."
Ever since she woke up after being locked in the cold storage, Elmer had given her a phone.
He had given her freedom.
Rachel returned his trust. She wouldn't leave on her own.
"So, should we tell Natalie?"
Rachel thought for a moment and shook her head. "If Adrian finds out, knowing his temper, he'll definitely storm into Redwood Isle and take me away. Plus I heard Adrian and Elmer have reached some kind of agreement - they're allies now. I'm afraid my situation might ruin their relationship. Let's not tell Natalie for now."
She knew Natalie was worried about her, but this was all Rachel could do for the moment.
......
Rachel stayed in the lounge the whole time without going out.
She and Chloe hadn't seen each other in so long, they had a lot to catch up on.
Outside, Faye and Mark's engagement party was going smoothly.
Faye's wedding dress was sponsored by U&M, so Rebecca, the president of U&M, and their spokesperson Wendy were both there.
Several people took photos together.
Faye knew Chloe. "Where's Niamh?"
Rebecca said to her assistant, "Go find Niamh."
Faye looked up, and her gaze suddenly caught a flash of white in the distance. The person was wearing a white suit, chatting and laughing with several big shots around him. His lips carried a distant smile, his eyes like glass. Faye took a sip of red wine, her cheeks flushing slightly.
No one knew she had secretly loved Elmer for many years.
This feeling that only she knew about - today, she was personally putting an end to it.
Watching Elmer attend her engagement party, Faye felt a bitter taste in her throat.
Suddenly she heard Rebecca beside her say, "Isn't that Mr. Roach? I heard he got married. Last time at Kamille's birthday party, I caught a glimpse of Mrs. Roach."
Faye looked at Rebecca nervously, trying to keep her voice natural. "Oh, what's Mrs. Roach like?"
"Kamille's birthday party was a masquerade ball, everyone wore masks, so I didn't really see her face clearly. She looked very young. There was actually quite a scene at the party."
Faye remembered too - Mila had locked Mrs. Roach in the cold storage. That incident had spread everywhere.
Over there, Elmer chatted briefly with a few CEOs around him. His eyes scanned the area, not finding Rachel anywhere. Suddenly his gaze stopped, seeing Faye and Mark at the center of the stage. He thought for a moment and decided to walk over. After all, they were today's main couple, and he was representing the Roach Family at this engagement party - he should go congratulate them.
This kind of social formality wasn't something he enjoyed, but he was trying hard to adapt now, because in the future, he would have to participate in many more occasions like this.
Faye watched Elmer walking toward her, nervously clenching her fingers. Through the white veil in front of her, she couldn't see the man's face clearly. Looking at his blurred features through the haze, that familiar outline haunted her dreams.
