Chapter 787 Gossiping Behind Backs
Meanwhile, outside the hospital's operating room...
Jerry was pacing nervously by the door.
Rosalie's kidney transplant had been going on for six hours, and Jerry was on edge the whole time, dreading any bad news.
Finally, around 4 PM, the doors swung open, and the doctors and nurses wheeled Rosalie out.
Jerry jumped up and asked, "Doc, how'd it go?"
"The surgery went great," Jagger said, pulling off his mask and looking at Jerry. Jagger knew Rosalie's case inside and out. Sure, there were a few hiccups, but overall, it was smooth sailing.
Jagger had also picked up on some tension between Rosalie and Natalie lately and knew how much Natalie used to care about Rosalie.
Jagger knew Natalie's dad had passed away early, so when he saw Jerry, he was a bit surprised but figured Jerry was either Natalie's stepdad or a friend of Rosalie's.
"Make sure to take good care of Rosalie," Jagger said. "If anything comes up, get in touch with the on-duty doctor right away."
Jerry nodded quickly.
Jagger headed back to his office, rubbing his neck as he walked.
Passing by the nurse's station, he overheard some gossip.
"The patient in bed 8 just had a successful surgery, but her daughter hasn't shown up yet."
"Is that the woman who always wears a mask and sunglasses? She's only been here once or twice. The patient's been here for months, and we've barely seen her daughter."
"Rich folks, huh? They don't seem to care about their parents. For such a big surgery, only an old man was waiting outside."
"Really sad."
Seeing Jagger, the nurses clammed up. "Dr. Kamel."
Usually gentle, Jagger was now all business. "If I catch you gossiping about patients during work hours again, you're out."
The nurses went silent, heads down.
Who knew Jagger could be so strict?
Jerry walked into the ward. Rosalie was hooked up to all sorts of tubes and still out cold, but her vitals were stable.
Jerry sat in the chair next to her. He knew Natalie had arranged and paid for this surgery, shelling out a ton of money. After all, it cost hundreds of thousands, and the top nephrologist, Dr. Kamel, did the surgery, ensuring the best care. But he couldn't figure out why Rosalie and Natalie had fallen out.
Jerry thought Natalie was being a bit immature. Even if she had issues with Rosalie, she should've been here for such a serious surgery.
When Jerry arrived in the morning, only a caregiver was there.
He tried calling Natalie several times but couldn't get through.
He even called one of Natalie's friends, Heather, but Heather just gave him some vague answers.
Over an hour later, a nurse came in and started gently patting Rosalie's cheeks to wake her up.
The anesthesia had worn off, and Rosalie woke up, looked at Jerry, and tried to say something but could only make weak sounds.
Jerry quickly said, "Don't rush. Wait until you feel better to talk. I'm here."
After such a major surgery, Rosalie was really weak.
After two days of meds, she finally started to perk up a bit.
