Chapter 177 Donte Returns

Meanwhile, a black luxury sedan slowly drove into the Howard family estate. It stopped at the entrance.

A servant quickly walked into the living room. "Jeffery, Jeffery, Mr. Howard is back."

"What? Mr. Howard is back? Go notify everyone immediately." the Howard family butler, Jeffery Ward, said as he strode outside.

About two minutes later, Natalie looked up and saw a man in a white tracksuit, bearing some resemblance to Adrian but with slightly softer features, walk in. He also saw Natalie, smiled, and approached her. "You must be Adrian's fiancée, Alice."

Natalie stood up, already aware of the man's identity. This was Adrian's second brother, Donte.

"I didn't know you were here. I came in a hurry and forgot to prepare a gift." Donte said with a smile, taking a handbag from his assistant. "I don't know what you like, but this was originally a gift for a friend. Seeing you today, I'll give it to you and make it up to my friend later with something better."

Natalie was taken aback and smiled. "You're too kind."

Donte's assistant said, "Ms. Cullen, please accept it. It's a token of Mr. Howard's goodwill."

Natalie hesitated for a few seconds and was about to take the gift when a deep voice came from upstairs. "No need."

Adrian slowly descended the stairs. "Since it was meant for someone else, she won't take it."

He came to Natalie's side, standing in front of her. Natalie instantly felt the tension between them.

It seemed that Adrian and Donte did not have a good relationship. She had long heard that in such large families as the Howards, there were always turmoil.

Donte smiled and said, "I didn't think it through. I'll make it up to Alice another day."

Adrian's lips curled slightly. "Alice, thank Donte."

Natalie softly said, "Thank you."

Donte walked upstairs to the study.

Downstairs, Adrian looked at Natalie. "In the future, keep your distance from him."

She nodded. "I understand."

"Understand what?" Adrian raised an eyebrow slightly, seeing her sudden compliance. He lifted his hand, intending to remove her sunglasses.

Natalie stepped back two paces and said, "I understand to keep my distance from him. My eyes are a bit inflamed, so I'd rather keep them on. You know, especially since there will be so many people at dinner."

Women tend to care about their appearance, so Adrian didn't insist. He continued to ask, "Did you get any medicine?"

"I got some eye drops," Natalie replied.

"Where's my mother?" Adrian asked.

"She just went with Rachel. They should be in Rachel's room now," Natalie guessed.

"My mother just got out of the hospital, and her eyes have just recovered. If you have time, you should visit her more and chat with her."

"Yes, we were just talking in the living room..." Natalie's voice trailed off.

Adrian looked at her. "Talking about what?"

Natalie coughed lightly. "Talking about your childhood."

"My childhood? What's there to talk about?"

"I heard from your mother that when you were two, you liked wearing pink dresses."

That was how rumors started.

Adrian's handsome face changed instantly.

Natalie pressed her lips together, almost laughing out loud. Wearing sunglasses, Adrian couldn't see her expression, but she could clearly see the embarrassment flash in Adrian's eyes. It was the first time she had seen him so flustered.

After a few seconds, Adrian said, "I didn't. Mother was just making things up."

Natalie saw Adrian's earlobes turn slightly red. She tried hard to suppress her laughter and nodded, "Yes, I know. You don't need to explain."
