Chapter 356 Incitement
Alice's phone buzzed in her bag. She saw a text from Carlos asking her to call him back. She glanced at Adrian, who was eating across from her. "Adrian, I'm going to the restroom."
She got up awkwardly, being over eight months pregnant, and held her lower back as she left the private room, pulling out her phone.
"What do you want? I'm having lunch with Adrian," Alice said, annoyed.
Even though she had been with Carlos before and the baby was his, she planned to marry Adrian. She wanted to avoid Carlos but sometimes needed his help to keep things hidden, which made her nervous.
Avery had warned her to avoid offending John and Carlos, even after marrying into the Howard family. John was the Howard family's butler, and it would be smart to have some leverage over Carlos to keep him in check.
Carlos was playing cards and had his phone on speaker. "Lunch? Alice, I miss you. How about we meet at our usual spot tonight?"
Alice heard the card game and chatter in the background. "Carlos, my mom is home, and she's strict, so it's tough for me to go out at night."
"Then I'll come to you. Don't you miss me? Adrian doesn't sleep with you. I've been the one satisfying you these past months."
Alice blushed. "Carlos, my mom is home. What if we get caught?"
Carlos replied, "What are you afraid of? The baby is mine."
Alice hesitated but agreed. "Okay, I'll wait for you at home."
Carlos said, "I've arranged for someone to help with your prenatal checkup today. It won't be discovered."
Alice said, "Thanks, Carlos."
She hung up, touched up her makeup, and walked out of the restroom. She saw Raymond approaching and frowned slightly.
Raymond looked like Ryan but had a different demeanor. She had often scolded Ryan when he was in the Cullen family. Seeing someone so similar to Ryan stunned her for a moment.
But Ryan was long dead.
She couldn't link someone like Raymond to the deceased Ryan.
Natalie was just a servant in her family. Adrian and Daniel were both drawn to her. And this man, who seemed influential, was involved with Natalie as well.
What was so special about Natalie?
Raymond was about to enter the restroom when he heard a female voice behind him.
The voice was sweet, but Raymond didn't like it.
Alice called out, "Sir."
Raymond paused, turned around, and raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to speak.
Alice said, "Sir, what's your relationship with Natalie? Are you her boyfriend?"
Raymond looked at her. "Ms. Cullen, if you have something to say, just say it directly."
Alice said, "I just wanted to warn you that Natalie isn't as simple as she seems."
Raymond asked, "Oh, then tell me, what kind of person is she?"
