Chapter 254 Audition
Alice's eyes were red as she clung to Adrian's arm. "Adrian, if I did something wrong, just tell me. Ever since you got back from Pearl Island, you've been so distant."
Adrian replied, "Alice, just focus on your health. Don't overthink it."
Alice switched topics. "Adrian, I got a script from Dynamic Entertainment under the Howard Group. There's a role for a pregnant woman, and I want to audition."
Adrian frowned. "Audition? You want to join the entertainment industry?"
Alice said, "Adrian, it's perfect for me. I'm playing a pregnant woman, and I did go to acting school." Though she rarely attended classes.
Adrian didn't object much. "That's your call."
Alice rested her head on Adrian's shoulder. "Adrian, the baby is almost five months now. When it's born, our family will be so happy."
Adrian's expression was complicated. He didn't seem thrilled about the baby...
His chest felt tight. They had reached where Natalie used to live. He looked at the cherry blossom branches peeking out from the wall. It wasn't cherry blossom season, so the tree was bare. The last time he came, the blossoms were in full bloom.
Alice's decision to act wasn't made up overnight; she'd been planning it for a while. Her friend, Melissa Clark, was already in the industry. Melissa's family invested in several films for her, and now she had fame and fans. Alice was envious. Who wouldn't want to be in the spotlight?
Every time she saw Melissa under the spotlight, admired by everyone, she felt jealous.
Melissa came from a nouveau riche background; her dad was a real estate developer. But Melissa did well in the industry. Even international director Vincent Watson treated her kindly.
Melissa earned millions from endorsements and wore the latest luxury items.
Alice had long planned to enter the entertainment industry.
Now pregnant and cast in a role tailored for a pregnant woman, the investors knew she was Adrian's fiancée and were eager to have her on board.
The next day, Alice went for the audition.
It was more of a meeting with the director and production team, and she got the role immediately. Originally, the role only had a few lines, but they added scenes for her and changed the plot. Her name was at the forefront; no one dared to offend her.
After signing the contract, Alice started filming. Dynamic Entertainment assigned a capable manager, Karen Martinez, to take care of her.
Since Alice was pregnant, the crew was particularly attentive. It was her first time acting, and she had no camera sense. Though beautiful, her expressions were quite vacant. The director, eager to keep her in good spirits, showered her with praise and refrained from giving any critiques.
Alice filmed all afternoon, hearing only praise, which made her proud. She changed many lines, and the director didn't refuse.
Alice's role was a pregnant woman in a divorce lawsuit. Originally, she had a few minutes of screen time, but now she had become the second female lead, and the script was overhauled.
The lead actress, Nora Thomas, was furious but didn't dare say anything.
She vented in her trailer, throwing the new script on the floor. "What is this? Tomorrow, Alice has more scenes than I do?"
Nora's agent said, "Keep your voice down, Nora. Alice and Karen might hear you."
Nora rolled her eyes. "What are you afraid of? I'm the lead actress."
The agent said, "Nora, just bear with it. One of the investors is Dynamic Entertainment, and Alice is Adrian's fiancée."
