Chapter 816 Unconscious
At the Howard Mansion.
Right now, the Howard family was freaking out.
The day after Christmas, Alice, who was pregnant, suddenly passed out, her lips all pale.
The family doctor checked her out and said she needed to go to the hospital ASAP, worried she might miscarry.
Claire, looking all worried, went to the hospital with the doc and let Curtis and Avery know. Because of the sudden incident, the visiting relatives and friends took off for now. Ruben stayed back, so Adrian stuck around to keep him in the loop.
At the hospital, they rushed Alice into the ER.
Claire was clutching a prayer bead bracelet, while Adrian sat on a bench nearby, looking confused.
Alice had been well taken care of at the Howard place, so how did she end up passing out and needing to go to the hospital?
Melissa started grilling Renee, who had come along, about what went down. "You've been looking after Alice. What happened? If you can't explain, it's on you, and you might as well leave."
Renee, shaking, remembered what Alice had told her earlier. "Alice's meals for the past two days were all from the kitchen and super healthy. I've been with her the whole time and didn't see anything weird. She said she felt off since yesterday but didn't want to mess up Christmas, so she kept quiet. Today, she felt way worse—dizzy, nauseous, and weak—so I told Mrs. Howard right away."
Claire frowned. "Alice felt off yesterday?"
Renee nodded.
Melissa asked, "What exactly happened? She was fine at home, so how did this suddenly happen?"
Renee seemed to remember something but didn't say it.
Claire noticed Renee's hesitation and snapped, "Spit it out! Don't hold back!"
Renee lowered her head and said, "Yesterday afternoon, Alice was out for a walk and got bumped by two kids. She seemed fine then but felt off in the evening."
Claire frowned. Yesterday, a lot of relatives and friends visited the Howard Mansion, some with kids. It was normal for kids to run around and bump into people.
Yesterday, Claire herself almost got knocked over by a great-grandson of the Murphy family rushing down the stairs.
Plus, the people visiting the Howard family were all big shots in Vachilit, close family friends, or business partners. Hopefully, Alice would be okay; otherwise, it could cause a mess.
Melissa and Claire exchanged a look, both thinking it was best if Alice was fine.
Melissa gave Renee a look. She thought this maid, brought by Alice from the Cullen family, seemed rough and sneaky. She said pointedly, "When Alice wakes up, you're out. From now on, Alice will use the Howard family's maids. You didn't report the situation in time, and not punishing you is already a favor to the Cullen family."
Melissa, being a businesswoman, had a presence that made Renee tremble.
Renee bit her lip and lowered her head.
The whole time, Adrian stayed quiet. He just sat on the bench, his face calm and cold, showing no emotion.
