Chapter 434 He's Getting Married
So, yeah, this whole plan was Karen's brainchild for Alice.
Back when Alice, the future queen bee of the Howard family, picked her as her agent, Karen had it all mapped out.
Once Alice popped out her kid, all those new gigs would be Alice's, and she'd never be short on resources as the Howard family's top lady.
But, you know, life threw curveballs.
Alice busted her leg and now she's out for at least six months.
Karen thought being Alice's agent would make her the top dog at Dynamic Entertainment Media. But then, bam, this accident happened, and Mindy was pick, Natalie, was on the rise.
Karen and Mindy? Total frenemies, always trying to one-up each other. Karen didn't see this loss coming.
Natalie was staring at the plan in her hand, deep in thought.
Karen was on edge, waiting.
Yvonne barged in. "Natalie, I brought you some fresh juice. Oh, hey, Karen."
Yvonne stood there with a tray, then walked in and set the juice on the coffee table. Natalie glanced at Yvonne. "Yvonne, get Karen some water."
Yvonne nodded. "Sure thing."
Karen cut in, "No need, Natalie. Have you made up your mind yet?"
Natalie handed the plan back. "You should've known when you were with Alice that she and I are rivals. Not every artist craves fame or enjoys these gigs. What Alice digs, might not be my thing. If you wanna hang for coffee, you're welcome to stay."
That was a straight-up no.
Karen kept her polite smile. "Got it." She turned to leave, but before stepping out, she said, "But Natalie, I hope you won't regret this."
Then she walked out.
As soon as Karen left Natalie's lounge, her face turned stormy! Back at her studio, Karen threw the plan on the floor in a fit.
Yvonne, curious, asked, "Why was Karen here? Still trying to poach you?"
Natalie sipped her juice. "Who knows what she's up to."
Yvonne said, "Last month, the company put out a small web series, produced by Lydia Wright. It got great reviews, scored an 8, and made Dynamic Entertainment Media a cool sixty million bucks. The series only cost twenty-seven million, so it more than doubled. Lydia's first time producing and she nailed it. And she's younger than Karen by two years. Karen's star, Alice, is stuck in the hospital for at least six months. With Lydia on the rise, Karen's definitely freaking out."
The fresh orange juice scent lingered on Natalie's lips. "So why come to me?"
Yvonne's eyes sparkled. "Natalie, stop playing dumb."
Natalie sighed and chuckled. "You know everything, huh?"
Yvonne said, "I think Mr. Howard's into you."
Natalie shot back, "You talk too much."
Yvonne got excited. "Seriously, Natalie, a guy like Mr. Howard, if he's into someone, it's obvious. He wouldn't chill in a movie theater for an hour if he didn't dig you. Signing a deal with him is worth a fortune, and he waited for you for an hour. Can't you see that?""
Natalie's eyes dimmed, "He's getting married."
