Chapter 656 As a Matter of Course
Claire asked in disbelief, "Is Natalie really that kind of person?"
Alice, knowing Claire would never check Facebook, pulled it up and found some old pics that made Natalie look bad. She handed them over to Claire.
Claire had heard the gossip but never saw the pics. When she did, she was floored. She thought, 'No way, how could Adrian be into such a slut? No chance!'
Herman hit up Mindy late at night.
Mindy was Natalie's agent, and everyone thought the movie role was a lock for Natalie, even though it wasn't official. But one call from Claire changed everything.
Herman asked, "Mindy, what's your take on this?"
Mindy thought for a sec and said, "Even though we all assumed Natalie would get the lead, I don't think she's right for it. I'll find her a new gig."
Herman was happy with that. "Natalie's busy with Oscar's movie for the next two months. I've got some good scripts here; you can let her pick one as a make-up."
Mindy replied, "Thanks, Herman."
Herman was stoked with Mindy's answer.
Since Mindy, as Natalie's agent, turned down the role, it looked like Natalie gave it up willingly. This way, Herman wouldn't piss off Natalie. Now, if Alice nailed her audition, she'd get the lead.
Even if Natalie got mad and complained to Adrian, it wouldn't be Herman's problem. He didn't want to step on any toes.
Alice was Adrian's legit fiancée and the future queen of the Howard family, so Herman had to keep her happy. But Natalie was Adrian's side piece, and if she complained, it could get messy. Herman never thought both women would want the same role.
The lead in Victoria's movie was supposed to be Natalie's.
Victoria liked Natalie and was cool with her, just waiting for the movie to start. But some personal stuff delayed it.
Now, Claire called Herman herself to switch the lead actress, and Herman had to make Claire happy.
After hanging up, Mindy scoffed.
She knew Herman was dumping the problem on her. He didn't want to piss off Natalie, so he made Mindy handle it.
Mindy had mixed feelings about Natalie. She had lots of resources but didn't give the best ones to Natalie. They had beef over a press conference last time. Mindy wouldn't cross Alice, but Natalie and Alice were sworn enemies. Mindy just wanted to cover her own butt since she was about to become vice president of Dynamic Entertainment.
Once she was VP, she wouldn't need Natalie anymore.
Even if Adrian was into Natalie now, that wouldn't last. A guy's love faded when a woman's looks did.
But Alice was different. Even if she aged, she'd still be the Howard family's queen, and that alone would crush Natalie.
So, Mindy wasn't really looking out for Natalie.
Mindy wanted to build her own crew with stars who'd listen to her and be under her thumb.
