Chapter 403 The Appointment
Rosalie froze, fidgeting with her hands.
Curtis chimed in, "Hey, I owe you an apology for what happened before. Got Natalie a gig at the Cullen Group. It's a sweet deal. She can start right away."
"No thanks," Rosalie shot back, "Natalie's doing just fine at her current job. We don't need your help."
Curtis sighed. "Rosalie, you're still so stubborn."
Rosalie pushed the door open and left. She was super worried about Alice but had no way to see her. After leaving the hospital, Rosalie pulled out her phone, leaned against the wall, and kept reading all the news reports.
Stuff like Alice getting crushed under a chandelier and bleeding out, or Alice having a miscarriage, made her heart race.
Suddenly, her phone rang. It was Natalie. She quickly wiped her tears. "Hey, Natalie."
Natalie asked, "Mom, where are you?"
"Natalie, I was out buying groceries." Rosalie couldn't think of a better excuse.
Natalie pursed her lips. "Mom, I already bought the groceries. When are you coming back?"
Rosalie replied, "Right away. Natalie, didn't you have classes today?"
Natalie said, "No classes today."
Natalie stood at the entrance of a store not far from the hospital's east gate, watching Rosalie come out of the hospital and get on a bus. She gripped her phone tightly.
Rosalie went to the hospital as she expected. Did she go to see Alice? She seemed to care too much about Alice.
It was like Alice was her own daughter.
Suddenly, Natalie was startled by this thought that popped into her head.
She quickly shook her head. No way. She told herself not to overthink.
How could Alice be related to Rosalie? She was Avery's daughter.
Natalie took out her phone and dialed a number for Adrian's assistant, Brice.
On the other end, Brice quickly answered, "Ms. Teeger."
Natalie asked directly, "Brice, is Alice dead?"
Brice was taken aback. He knew about the beef between Natalie and Alice, but Natalie usually seemed so gentle. He didn't expect...
He coughed and then glanced at Adrian sitting at his desk. He mouthed to Adrian, "It's Ms. Teeger." Adrian nodded, and Brice put the phone down, turning on the speaker. "Ms. Cullen is still in a coma and hasn't woken up."
"I thought Alice was dead, so Adrian is staying by her side." Natalie's voice was light with a hint of sarcasm. It wasn't harsh but also not pleasant, with a touch of jealousy.
Brice quickly glanced at Adrian's expression.
But Adrian didn't seem to be angry.
Brice quickly said, "Mr. Howard has been busy with company matters recently."
Natalie said, "Oh, he's so busy. Then tell Adrian I'll be waiting for him at the cinema tonight."
Adrian's voice was low. "Alright, I'll be there on time."
Natalie was taken aback. "So you're there."
Adrian replied, "I dare not refuse Ms. Teeger's invitation."
Natalie said, "I thought you'd be especially busy these days."
Adrian raised his hand to rub his brow. He was indeed very busy. There were many things going on at the company recently, and with Alice's coma, several things were piling up. Even if he were Superman, he would need a break.
He uttered, "8 PM tonight, see you there, Ms. Teeger."
Adrian's hoarse, low voice echoed in her ears as Natalie hung up. The sound seemed to linger.
She didn't expect Brice to be with Adrian.
Natalie went home, and Rosalie was already back, preparing lunch in the kitchen. Seeing Natalie return, she smiled. "Natalie, you're back."
Natalie clearly saw that Rosalie's eyes were red.
Was it because of Alice?
