Chapter 655 The Wedding is Scheduled
Alice was back to her old self, health-wise, so unless something wild happened, her and Adrian's wedding would be back on track.
Ruben hobbled out with his cane, taking a leisurely stroll in the garden.
Inside, Alice turned to Claire, "Aunt Claire, may I ask you for a favor."
Claire gave her a reassuring pat. "Of course. Go ahead."
Alice hesitated, looking all vulnerable. "I hate to bug you. I'm feeling better now and thinking about jumping back into the entertainment biz. I had to put a movie on hold 'cause of my miscarriage. Now I wanna make a big comeback. I signed with Dynamic Entertainment under the Howard Group, and there's this script I love, but the lead's already taken. I really want this role and thought maybe I could offer the female lead now another film in exchange."
Claire didn't even blink. "No biggie. Anything from the Howard Group is yours. You want the lead and it shall be yours. I got this."
Alice sighed, "I don't wanna bother Adrian with this. He's already swamped with Howard Group stuff. And I don't have much pull. Even though I signed with Dynamic Entertainment, people still see me as just some rich girl who couldn't marry into the Howard family and lost her baby." Her eyes welled up.
Seeing Alice about to cry, Claire grabbed her hand. "Alice, don't talk like that."
Claire had a soft spot for Alice. After all, Alice had saved her life, and her miscarriage happened because of it.
Alice had almost died saving Claire, and it wasn't until now that she full recovered.
Claire felt a pang of guilt.
Alice sniffled. "That's what people say."
Claire knew Adrian had lost interest in Alice, which was why he wouldn't marry her. The rumors were brutal.
Claire sighed, "I got this. I'll talk to Tristan at Dynamic Entertainment myself. That role is yours."
Alice finally smiled. "Thanks, Auntie."
Alice thought, 'Natalie, that movie is still mine. What good did it do for you to start the shooting six months earlier? In the end, it's still mine. You're not worthy of Victoria's movie.'
That evening, Claire called Tristan right in front of Alice. With Claire's backing, Tristan agreed to compensate Natalie with another movie.
After hanging up, Claire realized Alice's competition was Natalie.
Claire looked at Alice, "Did you know it was Natalie?"
Alice's eyes filled with tears. "Yeah, I knew."
Alice looked pitiful. "I don't get why I'm not as good as Natalie. But Adrian fell for her, and she used to be a maid in my house. No, she seduced Adrian. She wants revenge on me. She grew up with me. My mom was kind and took in her family. My dad even hired her dad as a driver. We took care of them, but she's so ungrateful. She bullied me, stole my stuff, tore up my perfect test papers, and now she's after my fiancé. Aunt Claire, you've been totally fooled by Natalie."
