Chapter 802 The Terrifying Man
Adrian was downright scary, and Alice felt a twinge of guilt. She thought, 'No way. How could Adrian have figured it out? My plans are perfect; there's no way he found any holes. I must be overthinking. It must be that bitch Natalie trying to seduce him. Adrian kept checking his phone on the balcony, like he was waiting for something. He must be talking to Natalie. But who cares? He's still here with me!'
The Howard family had a lot of visitors today. Ruben chatted with some old friends for a bit overwhelmed before heading upstairs to rest, leaving Joe and Adrian to handle the guests. Adrian was busy all afternoon.
Claire introduced Alice to several elders, and Alice, blushing slightly, greeted them sweetly and politely.
"Alice, you're part of the family now, and you're carrying the Howard family's heir, so take good care of yourself," said Nia Kamel.
The Kamel family had always been close to the Howards, and Nia had a special bond with the late Mrs. Howard.
Claire smiled. "Yes, Alice, this is Nia Kamel."
Alice said, "Mrs. Kamel."
"Good girl. I liked you the first time I saw you. I didn't bring much, but I'd like to give you this bracelet. I've worn it for a few years." Nia handed Alice a wooden bracelet.
Alice took it, feeling happy at first, thinking the Kamel family would give something valuable. But when she saw it was a cheap wooden bracelet, she kept her smile but thought, 'Nia is so stingy. Giving away such a cheap thing, isn't she afraid of being laughed at?'
Alice said, "Thank you, Mrs. Kamel."
Nia nodded. "Claire, it's been a while."
Claire smiled. "Yes, Mrs. Kamel, you've been living in Verona, and you only come back for a few days during Christmas each year. My health hasn't been great, but I do want to visit you abroad someday."
The living room was buzzing with activity.
Even though the Howard Mansion had a big living room, there were just too many people.
Relatives, friends, business associates, and many juniors at work came to visit Ruben.
The spacious living room now felt a bit cramped.
Claire held Nia's arm as they walked out together. "Mrs. Kamel, come to my study. I've been practicing the piano these past few years, and I'd like to show you my progress."
Nia also loved playing the piano and usually set aside time each week to practice.
Alice watched Nia and Claire leave, and her smile faded. A few young ladies around her age came over to talk to her, and she smiled again.
Alice's belly wasn't showing much yet, but she deliberately raised her hand to support her abdomen, as if wanting to show off to the whole world that she was pregnant with the Howard family's heir.
Even though the Cullen family wasn't high-ranking in Vachilit and those young ladies looked down on Alice, a nouveau riche, they couldn't ignore the fact that Alice was now pregnant. Their elders had told them to approach Alice with some gifts.
"Alice, I bought this necklace from the BVLGARI store a few days ago, and I think it would suit you well. Please take it."
