Chapter 902 Avery's Resentment
After all, Diana and Alice were super tight.
The cops said, "Ms. Everly is suspected of telling a waitress named Yasmin to use a $30,000 BVLGARI bracelet to bribe her into spilling drinks on Ms. Teeger's gown. Ms. Teeger demanded compensation and reported it to us. Now, you need to come with me to the station."
Diana's face went pale. She glanced at Brynn, who looked confused. But seeing Diana being taken away, Brynn wasn't having it. "Sir, I don't get it. How can you just take Diana like that? Is there some kind of mistake?"
Alice getting hauled off by the cops had already become a juicy piece of gossip among the socialites.
Now, if Diana got taken away too, people would definitely have a field day. Diana quickly hid behind Brynn. The cops, sticking to the rules, said, "Ms. Everly, you just need to come with us to the station to make a statement and help with the investigation. If you resist, we'll have to use force."
Brynn squeezed Diana's hand. "Go on. If you're being set up, explain it. I'll get a lawyer to go with you. If you did it, just own up. Whatever they want, we'll handle it."
Coincidentally, the police station Diana went to was the same one where Alice was being held.
Avery was there too, sitting on a bench in the lobby, and she looked shocked when she saw Diana.
Diana was taken into the interrogation room, where Yasmin was already waiting.
Yasmin immediately pointed her out. "It was her. She gave me a bracelet and told me to spill drinks on Ms. Teeger."
Diana denied it right away. "You're lying. I don't even know you."
Yasmin wasn't dumb. "The bracelet was taken off her wrist. There's no direct surveillance showing she gave it to me, but there are pictures of her wearing it on the red carpet and on her Facebook. Plus, the bracelet should have her fingerprints on it!"
Hearing this, Diana went quiet.
The cops had already sent the evidence to forensics, and soon they came back with news that Diana's fingerprints were indeed on the bracelet. Faced with undeniable proof, Diana finally admitted, "It was me. I was following Alice's orders. Alice has a grudge against Natalie and told me to do it." It wasn't surprising that Diana shifted the blame, as she was telling the truth. It was indeed Alice who had instructed Diana to find a way to embarrass Natalie.
After a while, Natalie's lawyer showed up about the expensive gown.
The cleaning and maintenance costs were sky-high. Yasmin was considered an accomplice and couldn't afford to pay. Plus, Natalie's lawyer mainly targeted Diana, demanding $400,000 for the gown's maintenance. Diana could only grit her teeth and take it.
Diana didn't leave the police station right away but instead cried to Avery about how awful Natalie was, how Natalie treated her and Alice, how Natalie secretly seduced Adrian, and how Natalie repeatedly provoked and mocked Alice at the party, which led to Alice getting into a fight with Sandra.
