Chapter 117 Twenty Years of Grudges

The car stopped at the entrance of the Cullen Villa. Jagger, ever the gentleman, escorted Natalie from the vehicle. He was just about to bid her farewell when another car, belonging to Curtis, leisurely pulled into the driveway.

Curtis alighted from his car, a look of excitement illuminating his features. "Dr. Kamel, it's you," he exclaimed.

Jagger returned the greeting with a polite nod, "Mr. Cullen."

"Please, come in and have a seat," Curtis invited.

Inside the opulent living room of the Cullen Villa, Curtis studied Jagger, his satisfaction growing with each passing moment. He was genuinely pleased that Natalie had found a partner like Jagger.

"I heard from Natalie that you are Rosalie's attending physician," Curtis mentioned, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes at the mention of Rosalie's name.

"Yes, I've been treating Mrs. Teeger during her hospitalization these past few months," Jagger confirmed.

Curtis' relief was palpable. "No wonder, thank you so much," he expressed his gratitude before his curiosity got the better of him. "I wonder how Rosalie's condition is."

"Mrs. Teeger's condition is currently stable," Jagger informed him, a hint of surprise in his tone. He quickly realized that Natalie probably hadn't informed Curtis about Rosalie's kidney transplant surgery.

"That's good to hear." Curtis sighed, visibly relieved. He had always harbored guilt towards Stanley and Rosalie. He had let Rosalie down, not visiting her out of fear of Avery causing a scene and his own inability to face Rosalie.

"Please take care of Rosalie in the future, Dr. Kamel," Curtis said, his voice heavy with unspoken emotions.

Avery, who was about to descend the staircase, overheard this. Her face contorted in anger. 'Rosalie!! Of course, I knew that Curtis could never forget about Rosalie! It's been over twenty years, and it's time for me to settle the score with Rosalie!' she seethed inwardly.

The day was marked by incessant rain.

At Everpeace Hospital, on the 6th floor, four bodyguards stood sentinel at the entrance of room 611. Upon spotting Avery, elegantly striding in her high heels, they quickly greeted in unison, "Mrs. Cullen."

Rosalie had been confined here following her kidney transplant, completely ignored by Avery. This was her first appearance here.

Rosalie was seated by the window, her gaze lost in the drizzle outside. The sound of the door opening jolted her from her reverie. Her heart fluttered in anticipation, thinking it was Natalie. But her excitement quickly evaporated. Natalie visited at the same time every week, like clockwork.

She turned around to find Avery approaching. "Mrs. Cullen," she greeted, taken aback.

Avery scanned the room, forcing a smile. "Long time no see, Rosalie," she said, pausing between each word.

Rosalie's face remained impassive. "Mrs. Cullen, how come you have time to come here?" she asked, noting that Avery had been absent since her hospitalization.

"What? Are you disappointed to see me?" Avery's expression hardened. "Don't think I don't know what you're thinking! Let me tell you, Curtis will never come to see you!"

Rosalie said, "It's a misunderstanding. There is nothing between me and Mr. Cullen."

"And you dare to defend yourself? You climbed into Curtis's bed back then, when he was about to marry me. You were seducing him!!" Avery spat out, her face contorted with rage as she recalled the events of years past.

Avery and Rosalie were cousins. They had met Curtis in college. Rosalie, with her stunning beauty, had attracted many admirers, but she had eyes only for Curtis. Curtis reciprocated her feelings, and they became a couple.

However, when the Duncan Family suddenly went bankrupt, Rosalie had no desire to be in a relationship. She only wanted to help her family. Eventually, the whole family moved to Norland.

Later on, Rosalie was unable to complete her college education.
