Chapter 1210 The Chess Game

Natalie followed Quincy to the chess room and finally understood what Quincy meant.

When Joe saw Natalie, his expression turned peculiar.

"Quincy, this is cheating, isn't it? Didn't you say you were going out to find Daniel? How did you end up finding Natalie? Natalie is my daughter-in-law; if she's going to help with the chess game, it should be on my behalf. This doesn't count."

Joe knew how good Natalie was at chess. Although he had never played against her directly, he had observed her playing with Ruben.

Beating Natalie was no easy task. He was now worried that he might really lose his precious wooden piece.

Quincy said, "Joe, are you regretting it now? If you regret it, you lose by default."

Joe was in a dilemma, not knowing whether to stay or leave. He looked at Ruben for help.

Ruben stood up and said, "Natalie, come and sit down."

Joe realized that Ruben and Quincy had teamed up to set him up. He sighed, "Dad, you're doing this on purpose to get back at me. That piece of wood wasn't easy to come by, and now Quincy is going to waste it."

Quincy replied, "Joe, that's not fair. I'm good at carving. Maybe I'll carve a few pendants for you."

Natalie hadn't fully grasped the situation yet, but she couldn't help but smile. She found it amusing to see Joe and Quincy bickering.

She had originally thought the Howard family was a serious and rigid high-society family, but after spending time with them, she realized they were just like any other family, full of warmth and everyday life.

A very cozy family.

"Well, Joe, what do you say? Dad has already agreed, and you can't back out now. Besides, I never said I was going to find Daniel to play for me. I didn't specify anyone, and you didn't say I couldn't find Natalie."

Joe had no choice but to nod and cough, "Best two out of three, Natalie. I won't go easy on you."

Natalie smiled but didn't say anything.

Quincy chimed in, "Natalie won't go easy on you either. You might lose two games in a row."

Joe rolled his eyes and ignored Quincy. This time, Quincy had really set him up.

Natalie took the white pieces, and Joe took the black pieces. The match began.

At first, only Ruben and Quincy were watching, with Jeffery occasionally joining in.

Gradually, Claire, Melissa, and Daniel also came in, followed by Adrian and Jamie.

The once spacious chess room became a bit crowded, but everyone remained silent, their eyes fixed on the game, eager to see who would win.

Outside, the chef had already prepared the meal.

Jeffery went over to inform him that dinner might be delayed because the chess match was intense and could take a while.

The chef understood immediately and kept the food warm on low heat.

Andrea bit her lip and watched Natalie and Joe's game through a gap.

She wasn't good at chess and couldn't understand the game, but seeing everyone gathered around, she felt it would be impolite and antisocial to stay outside alone.

She hadn't expected even Jamie, who usually doted on her, to be so engrossed in the game.
