Chapter 299 Testing
Natalie took a deep breath and acted like nothing happened. "Mom, what's up?"
Rosalie said, "Oh, nothing. I just noticed the bedsheets are different."
Natalie grinned. "Yeah, I changed them. The old ones were on for days. Do you like the new green ones I got?"
Rosalie smiled back, but there was a hint of guilt and nervousness in her eyes. "I could've done it myself. Did you see a watch under my pillow?"
Natalie widened her eyes a bit. "What watch? I didn't see any watch. Was it under your pillow? I didn't notice anything when I changed the sheets." She knew Rosalie was testing her. There was no watch, just a diary.
Rosalie sighed in relief. "Must've misplaced it. I'll go make dinner." She went back to the bedroom, took out the diary, held it tightly for a moment, then locked it in a drawer.
On the balcony, after Rosalie left, Natalie's expression darkened.
She didn't want to overthink it. Rosalie was her only family, but her behavior was odd. Natalie gripped the railing tightly.
Evening.
Room 618 at Imperial Nightclub.
Raymond crossed his legs, a glass of wine was handed to him, and he waved it off. "No more for me; you guys keep going."
The guy handing him the wine teased, "Come on, Raymond, already done?"
Raymond just waved his hand. "Seriously, I can't."
He closed his eyes and leaned back on the red leather sofa.
The room had several people, including three girls. None were around Raymond; his family was strict, and he wasn't into that scene. Plus, he didn't like girls from these places.
One guy asked, "When's Colby coming? Didn't he say he was coming?"
"Probably busy, let me check." The guy made a call. "He's on his way, almost here."
"Natalie, my stomach hurts, can you cover for me?" Olivia Bennett clutched her abdomen and grabbed Natalie as she passed by. "Please help."
Natalie, in the room next to Olivia's, nodded. "Okay, go ahead."
Olivia ran to the restroom.
Natalie stood at the door.
Her earpiece transmitted sounds from Room 618. She knocked, entered, and checked the drink list with the server, Vivian Anderson. Since she was covering, she asked Vivian to go to the wine cellar while she stayed.
Vivian nodded and left.
The room was smoky, making Natalie's nose itch. She rubbed it. A group of wealthy young people were singing and having fun.
There were occasional sounds of kissing and screaming.
The room was lit with colorful laser lights, like a nightclub. Only young people could handle this.
A guy called out, "Waitress, pour the wine."
Natalie walked over, picked up a bottle, and poured it into each glass.
The bottle emptied quickly. Seeing there were still empty glasses, Natalie bent down and apologized, "The wine and fruit platter will be here soon, please wait a moment."
Usually, guests wouldn't mind waiting a minute or two. The guy waved his hand. "Alright, hurry up."
