Chapter 239 Guilty
Curtis sighed heavily. "It's better for her to know," he thought. Now he didn't have to keep it bottled up.
For years, his conscience had been tormented.
Avery, knowing Curtis had a soft heart, quickly added fuel to the fire. "Curtis, look at Natalie's attitude. We've done so much for her family. We paid for her mom's medical bills. When Natalie skipped classes and got suspended, you talked to the principal. I even helped her find a job. And she doesn't appreciate any of it. She even envies Alice. If anything happens to Alice or her baby, I won't forgive Natalie!"
Curtis asked, "Avery, do you know which hospital Rosalie is in now?"
Avery's expression turned pale. He raised his voice, feeling a bit guilty. "How would I know? You still want to see her, don't you? Curtis, I knew it; you still have feelings for her!"
"Of course not, but we've known each other a long time. Because of Natalie's father, we haven't spoken in years. We need to clear things up." Curtis had always wanted to meet Rosalie to explain what happened but could never find her.
He didn't know where Rosalie was being treated now.
"How could I possibly know?" Avery said. "I'm going to check on Alice."
In the hospital room, Alice had woken up.
Pale and weak, she leaned against Adrian's chest. "Adrian, our baby is okay, right?"
Adrian said, "The doctor said there's nothing serious."
"I was so scared." Alice's eyes reddened. "It's not really Natalie's fault. It's my fault. I just wanted to thank her for saving you in the forest, but she suddenly got angry."
Adrian frowned slightly. "Are you saying Natalie got angry at you for no reason?"
He instinctively didn't believe Alice's words.
Alice panicked inside as she thought, 'Why is Adrian asking this? Did I say something wrong? Or did that bitch Natalie say something? I pretended to be unconscious. Shouldn't Adrian believe me unconditionally? After all, the baby in my belly is the Howard family's child.'
Alice carefully considered her words. "Yes, I don't know what happened to Natalie. She suddenly slapped me, said I was showing off, and that she wanted to take you from me. I was protecting the baby and didn't dare to argue, but she pushed me to the ground."
Adrian's voice was stern. "Are you sure?"
Alice suddenly panicked inside. 'Is something wrong?' she thought.
"Oh, the baby seems to be kicking me." She bit her lip, not daring to continue the topic, and placed Adrian's hand on her belly. "Adrian, the baby is fine. That's great. If anything happened to the baby, I wouldn't know what to do."
Adrian looked at the expression on Alice's face, his own face growing cold. "Alice, since you and the baby are fine, you should rest well."
Alice said, "Adrian, stay with me."
Adrian stood up. "Alice, since you were frightened, you need to rest well. I'll have the doctor come and check on you again." He walked straight to the door.
He opened the door and saw Avery and Curtis standing outside.
They wanted to chat with Adrian, but Adrian said directly, "Mr. Cullen, I'm going back to my room to rest. You stay with Alice."
Curtis said, "Oh, alright, alright. I heard you just got back from Pearl Island and went through a lot. You should rest well. We'll stay here."
Then they walked in . Alice looked at Avery and Curtis, saying, "Mom, Dad."
Avery asked with concern, "Alice, you really scared me. Are you okay?"
Alice said, "I'm fine."
Curtis, seeing that Alice and her baby were okay, sighed in relief. "You need to take good care of yourself. The baby is precious and can't have any problems."
Avery retorted, "You should ask Natalie. She's jealous of Alice. If it weren't for her, Alice wouldn't be like this. Thank God for protecting her."
Curtis shook his head, unwilling to argue with Avery about this, and said, "I'm going out to take a call. I still have a lot of work to handle. Avery, you stay with Alice."
