Avery and Curtis hurried over.
Curtis glanced at the surgery notice and froze. Even Avery was taken aback. Her eyes widened, and her face went pale. "Hysterectomy? How could this happen? Did you make a mistake?"
"The attending physician made this call based on the situation. It's the only way to save Alice's life. You need to think it over."
Ruben stood up, leaning on his cane with the butler's help. His face was grim. He hadn't expected Alice's condition to be this bad.
Melissa frowned, and Claire sighed. The whole corridor outside the operating room felt heavy.

Curtis hesitated for a moment.

Curtis sighed heavily, watching Alice being taken to the ICU.

Avery was still unconscious.

Melissa told them to leave first and that she would stay and wait for Alice to wake up.
