Chapter 923 Alice Completely Exposed
Since Alice got tagged as the future hostess of the Howard family, people had been showering her with gifts like crazy.
Just one of those bags cost eighty grand, and now, it was all gone.
"Mom, what's happening? Is it because I hit Sandra and ended up at the police station? Did the Howard family get embarrassed and call off the engagement? I just had surgery, how could they do this now? Adrian dumped me, so what am I supposed to do? I'll be too embarrassed to face our friends. Those socialites will be gossiping about me non-stop," Alice sobbed.
Avery felt really bad for her.
But with that video the Howard family had, no matter how much Avery wanted to defend Alice, it was still Alice's fault. Avery just hoped Alice could stay healthy. Even if she couldn't marry into the Howard family, there'd still be plenty of rich guys interested. As long as Alice took care of herself and kept the fact that her uterus was removed a secret, marrying into another wealthy family wouldn't be too hard.
"Alice, don't overthink it. Just focus on getting better," Avery tried to comfort her.
"I'm Adrian's fiancée! I need to go to the Howard Mansion and find out why!" Alice said, storming out.
Avery had no choice but to spill the truth, "It's because your affair with Carlos got exposed! Someone filmed a video of you two in the underground parking lot!"
Alice's face went pale. 'Carlos and I got caught on camera? Who filmed it?'
"Mom, what do you mean?"
Avery looked at Alice, who was still weak. It had been so hard to get Alice out of the police station. Curtis didn't care about family matters, and even when Alice came back, he didn't come to see her. Avery only had Alice now. No matter what crazy things Alice did, she was still Avery's precious daughter, born after ten months of pregnancy and a tough birth.
Avery didn't want to blame Alice for the affair with Carlos, only saying, "I don't know, but your affair with Carlos got exposed. From now on, let's just move on. You should lay low for a while. The online storm isn't in your favor. Once this blows over, I'll set up some dates for you. You're so beautiful, plenty of wealthy men will be after you."
Alice went back to her bedroom. She opened Facebook and angrily threw her phone when she saw all the online insults.
'Carlos and I were so careful. How did we get caught on camera? Who filmed it? And who gave the video to Adrian? Now, Adrian and I are completely over! Natalie, it must be Natalie!' Thinking of Natalie, Alice gritted her teeth.
She grabbed her tablet and started browsing. The more people insulted her online, the more frustrated she got, but she couldn't stop looking!
Seeing how well Natalie's movie was doing at the box office while she herself had been dumped, Alice hated Natalie even more.
Alice picked up her phone from the floor, its screen already shattered. She grabbed another phone from the bedside table and called Carlos. But after calling twice, there was no answer.
At the Howard Mansion, the atmosphere in the living room was super tense, like a threatening storm.
Ruben sat on the couch, with Melissa, Joe, Adrian, and Claire all there too.
They were seated on either side of the couch.
