Chapter 1182 You're Just Using Me
Natalie was taken aback.
She hadn't expected Adrian to say so much to her.
This was the first time he had spoken so much to her since his memory loss.
"Adrian, do you think losing your memory is also fate playing tricks on us?"
Natalie bit her lip, "I will wait until the day you regain your memory. I will wait for that miracle to happen."
Without waiting for his response, Natalie continued, "It will happen, right? We will wait for it, right?"
She looked at Adrian, her eyes full of sincerity.
Adrian was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
Seeing Adrian nod, tears welled up in Natalie's eyes.
Adrian left.
Natalie leaned against the door, her body slowly sliding down.
She sat on the carpet, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
Everyone, when faced with the unfairness of fate, shouts about changing their destiny, not believing in fate, saying that they control their own destiny, but still end up being manipulated.
Just like herself, she couldn't change her fate. Even though her current situation was completely different from the days when she worked hard every day to save money for Rosalie's kidney transplant, and her savings had reached an unimaginable amount, her biological mother, Avery, almost killed Natalie and the person she loved most in a car accident.
The person she loved most lost his memory.
All she felt was helplessness and hatred.
There was nothing she could do.
She tried to change things, but couldn't.
Natalie's sprained ankle healed enough for her to walk after three or four days.
That day, she received a call from Curtis.
Since Curtis' failed suicide attempt, she hadn't been in contact with him.
In her heart, Curtis was not her father.
He was just an ordinary person, and she even wanted to erase Curtis and Avery from her memory.
That way, she wouldn't have to torture herself day and night.
Natalie's phone was on the table.
Violette brought over some afternoon tea, "Mrs. Howard, your phone is ringing."
Natalie looked at the phone that kept ringing and finally answered it, "Hello."
"Natalie, it's me, Curtis." Curtis knew he was Natalie's biological father, but he also knew he didn't deserve to be.
"It's like this, Avery has been sick recently and has been receiving medical treatment outside of prison. She's not in good health and keeps calling your name. Natalie, let's meet and clear everything up."
"Clear everything up?" Natalie laughed, "How can we clear everything up? Can it be cleared up?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end, "I know, Avery and I didn't fulfill our roles as parents. Because of our negligence, you were away from us for so long."
"When was I away from you and Avery? I was always in your Cullen family, working as a servant. Did you forget? The dinners you and Avery ate were prepared by Rosalie and me in the kitchen. I watched you finish eating, then went to the back kitchen with Rosalie to eat the leftovers."
Curtis said, "Natalie, I know this caused you a lot of pain. It was also a great pain for Avery and me. Nothing is more painful than losing a biological daughter. If I could, I wish none of this had happened."
"None of this had happened? Curtis, your words can't erase the suffering I've endured all these years. Are you in pain? You're just in pain because your company was destroyed. You're just in pain because you fell from being a wealthy boss to a poor man."
"Do you really want to acknowledge me as your daughter? Or do you just want to erase everything and use the Howard family behind me to rise again?"
