Chapter 184 Still a Chance
Carlos, with Natalie behind him, prepared to leave. He glanced at Natalie, whose face bore almost no trace of makeup. Her almond-shaped eyes seemed to shimmer with a clear, pure light, reminiscent of a serene stream. She indeed resembled Alice, otherwise, he wouldn't have mistaken her today. Moreover, Natalie's features made her even more attractive. If he hadn’t already established the relationship with Alice, Carlos would have clearly preferred a woman like Natalie.
Suddenly, a voice called out, "Natalie, what are you doing here?"
Natalie lifted her gaze and saw Daniel walking in their direction.
Carlos was also somewhat surprised. As Daniel approached, he glanced at Carlos and asked, "You know Natalie?"
Carlos stammered, unsure of how to explain. "I... Natalie and I, we..."
Natalie spoke calmly, "I came here to deliver something to Ms. Cullen. I just finished and was about to leave, but the Howard family estate is so large that I ran into Carlos and asked him to help me find my way out."
Carlos nodded repeatedly. "Yes, that's right."
Daniel said to Carlos, "You go ahead and take care of your business. I'll chat with Natalie for a bit."
Carlos hesitated. He was supposed to escort Natalie out, but now they had been caught by Daniel. What should he do?
However, he couldn't refuse Daniel, so he had to leave. Before he left, he glanced at Natalie, but she paid him no mind.
Daniel looked at Natalie, a hint of joy in his eyes. "Natalie, could you do me a favor tonight?"
"What kind of favor?"
"It's just a piece of cake for you." Daniel said earnestly, "Natalie, tonight is the Howard family banquet. Could you accompany me to attend?"
Natalie's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at Daniel, pointing at herself. "Daniel, are you serious? You want me to pretend to be your girlfriend?"
Daniel nodded.
Natalie chuckled and said, "You can't possibly be without a girlfriend, can you? You have plenty of girlfriends, as far as I know, several names I can even recall."
"Natalie, are you upset?" Daniel seemed pleased to hear her say that. "I've already broken up with them."
He had been pursuing Natalie for a long time, but each time, she had avoided him.
Natalie thought Daniel was joking, but at this moment, his expression was very serious. Natalie then asked, "Are you serious?"
"Of course!"
Daniel thought for a moment. "Natalie, are you worried your boyfriend will be upset? You're just coming to my house for dinner, and your boyfriend isn't here. I'll just say you're my classmate and we happened to meet."
Natalie bit her lip and said softly, "Jagger and I have broken up."
Daniel's eyes lit up. 'They have broken up?' he repeated inwardly. 'This is wonderful! I still have a chance.'
"Natalie, please do me this favor. We're classmates, aren't we supposed to help each other out?"
Natalie glanced at him, not wanting to engage further.
"Daniel, if you want someone to accompany you to dinner, just make a call. Plenty of girls would be willing. I have things to do, so I'm leaving."
"Natalie! Don't go." Daniel blocked her path once more.
Natalie felt somewhat helpless. "Daniel."
"Where did Daniel go?" Melissa glanced around the living room. Jamie, Rachel, Alice, and Adrian were all there, but Daniel was absent.
"Adrian, call Daniel and ask where he is. It's time to eat."
Adrian stood up. "He's in the garden. I'll go get him."
Adrian walked to the garden and saw Daniel standing with a girl from a distance, seemingly engaged in conversation. As he got closer, the female figure looked increasingly familiar.
